I guess people didn't see how god-awful the Lakers offense was when Kobe was on the bench tonight. Especially in the 4th.

I don't think he's shooting too much. I watch the games.

Gasol gets touches just about every time down the floor. He rather create than shoot. That's Gasol's thing. It is not Kobe's fault that Gasol does not shoot more than he does. Still he was able to put up 19/10. How is that under-utilizing Gasol?

Bynum cannot play when he is doubled. He's just dreadful. He still managed to get 15/11.

But the larger point is that: 1) it is incredibly difficult to get the basketball into a bigman. It isn't as easy as you all make it out to be, so there's going to be a limited number of possessions where the entry pass is going to be able to be made; 2) Bigmen cannot shoot 20+ times a game. The punishment it takes, the stress on the legs, the jumping...its just a lot. Between 12-15 shots for Gasol and Bynum is plenty. Kobe ought to be shooting at least 20-24 times given his accuracy. And as long as he's doing his 40+ streak and they are winning, I say Kobe should see how far he can take it.

Lakers have absolutely no bench. What Kobe is doing with this team is incredible.

Question to the mods. Someone started a thread on the incredibleness of kobe getting another 40 point game but got locked. Which I agree with BC it could have gone in the other Kobe threads. But serious question. Why isn't this one?

I'm really noticing a pattern at realgm where the mods have a longer leash on the Kobe hate threads....

Now if they LOSE those games, everyone has every right to hate on Kobe. But they have WON those 3 games where he scored 40+, and wins are what matters.

LA's offense ranks a mediocre 13th this year, and likely to get worse after tonight's game. How's a core of Kobe/Bynum/Gasol(2nd best trio in basketball) + floor spacers in Barnes/Blake/Fisher/Kapono so mediocre offensively? They have played a very soft schedule so far to boot.

kobe is playing incredible ball...rejuvenated....i would be more impressed though if he can do it next week against the heat

i do think brown playing kobe all these minutes are gonna wear him down come playoff time.

not impressed because he's not shooting efficiently? You do realize the highest team TS% in the league is 57% and Kobe is near 59%? That means Kobe can't take enough shots.

Sometimes people say Lakers are a weak team and not contenders but when it comes to discrediting Kobe they will say it's an amazing team and he deserves little credit.

Bynum averages the second most FGA for a center in the league, IIRC, so how many shots is he supposed to get considering he isn't efficient when double teamed?
