I believe Chicago balked at an Asik for Courtney Lee offer from Houston at the deadline last year....FWIW.

Cole Aldrich? Might not offer immediate help, but I'd take anything over Pekovic. No one thought BJ Mullens would do anything, which is why he was basically given away.

Blatche is crap, nobody wants him in Wash.

I think Okafor is the easiest to get that is a definite upgrade over Darko, he's getting $12.8 million this season, $13.8 next...

Uhmmm i will say a stupid dumb thing and nobody should listen to me cuz even i can't believe im saying this but... what about Fran Vazquez? he is having a reduced role in Barcelona, has been playing with Ricky for 2 years(where he played his best career basketball with,i mean Fran, not Ricky) seems like he's willing to finally come over (is 28 now, a lot more mature) 5 millons/per would be enough, great finisher, very good shotblocker, avg defender, good 15-18 feet jumper, experienced...

That could be a master move for Khan, because he is totally off radar, Orlando would give the rights for a bag of doritos... what do u think guys?

I agree that Okafor is the likely guy, and I don't think he will even cost this much. Even with last year's centers getting paid, his lack of offense still puts him on a negative contract, especially for the 29 owners who get shafted with NOH's low attendance each night.

shrink wrote:Starting centers beginning new contracts - salaries for the next three years:

Marc Gasol: $41.9
Chandler: $41.5
Okafor: $40.9
Nene: $39.2
Noah: $34.4
Jordan: $31.3
Dalembert ($7 for 1 yr)

Did I miss anyone?

I believe some of these are over-priced, and that without the offensive skills, Okafor does not belong in that pod of salaries.

Of course, NOH first needs to trade the MIN pick, or we need to win enough games to reduce it's value.

My favourite is Gortat.

Gortat and Childress for Beasley, Johnson and Pekovic. A pick may be added if neccessary.

Childress salary is kinda too much, but his skillset will fit us well. He's a good defender and he's a slashing SG/SF and we don't have many of those.

Childress is just too expensive, and since Gortat won't take his ETO, he could force his way out next year, and we'd be left with all those years of Childress.

Josh Childress 6,000,000 6,500,000 7,182,500 7,317,500
Marcin Gortat 6,790,640 6,790,640

Childress: 1.8 PPG, 1.4 RPG

I like your Gortat idea though. If we want him, we should see if we can lure him next year. CBA question though .. can he turn down the ETO early, and accept an extension?

Mayo would have trouble playing center :-D

what concerns me is that he hasn't been traded or even much talked about all these years and it makes me think there must be some knowledge in NBA circles that he has no desire to be in the NBA, or else enough apprehension that it's a foregone conclusion. I guess for a 2nd rounder if they had the communication he'd come over, why not, but still not a starting center I don't think; I can't imagine him slowing down a guy like Marc Gasol, he doesn't have the size/strength.

I wish we could've swung a deal to draft Biyombo, he's scored like 3 times this year, but he's such a shot blocking beast, 5 blocks in 12 min last game against Detroit...that's one thing he's going to be upper echelon at, defending that rim

Asik is going to be a Rfa IIRC. Think we could sign him to a gortat type deal and make chicago scared?

Aldrich would be interesting on the cheap. Mullens and dj white both have played well after leaving OKC. Aldrich would be a good fit with Love if he can get consistent burn. Long, great shotblocker, good rebounder, not a total scrub on offense.

Still would consider throwing a little money at greg oden with him being a UFA. When he plays he's an absolute monster. A new medical staff could do great things...hopefully.

Okafor would be cool, but not likely with them owning our pick...getting ariza with him would be very nice even if both are a little overpaid.

Someone who's played well for dallas is Ian Mahinmi...he will be a UFA, get him on a cheap deal.

Tiago Splitter maybe?

I think we need significant upgrade over Darko. Otherwise, why bother?

Seems the trade board agrees with you. So the Wolves keep the pick, and have a pretty solid starting lineup. Okafor/Ariza fills both our holes pretty well (yes, yes, that's what she said).

I think it may be a good time to go after Bogut... maybe Bogut + filler (sanders) for Darko, Williams, Miller

I would like Bynum, I know others won't but he is a incredible talent when healthy and very young.

Wes Johnson has done well playing the Lakers, very well actually so they may still be a little high on him, especially because him and Kobe have worked out together and I'm sure if playing with anyone could help Wes' attitude it'd be Kobe. He'd also be able to slide to SF.

Available assets: Johnson, Beasley, Milicic, Pekovic, Randolph, Tolliver, Miller, Webster, Ridnour, Utah 1st, Memphis '13 1st, Minny '14 1st.

If Howard was willing to sign an extension, I'd give up Love.

Otherwise, any "decent" center would be better than what the Wolves have right now. A lot of interesting C are going to be FA next off-season (Dalembert, for example). I am also interested the rookie Greg Stiemsma for his impressive D.

The ideal deals would include the likes of DeMarcus Cousins or Javale McGee, without giving up neither Rubio nor Love.

Bogut isn't worth Williams. He isn't playing well at all. He didn't look good the three times we've faced them, and he has an impressive injury history.

Bynum would also have the leverage to force his way out next year, the last year of his deal.

If we could get him without giving up Williams, I'd be all for taking him on with his current injury risk.
