Kobe's has the ball more than almost anyone in the league...
...EVER.
Let him go off for 40, when the playoffs come, he'll be dead. He's on pace to beat HIMSELF in his "hog" year as the player with the highest usage rate. In 2006-07/2007-08, having the ball in his hands made a little more sense.

Now it just means he's gonna tire himself out and end up jacking up BS shots in the playoffs.

Again, give that many possessions to Vince Carter, a guy everyone knows is past his prime, and he'd score 40+.

I'm not a Bynum fan, but give him that many possessions... he's scoring more points.

Kobe getting that many touches at this age is a recipe for disaster.

Precisely. We share the same sentiments. I was listening to the game on the radio last night and every practically every time down the floor it's "bryant has the ball...bryant shoots....bryant shoots......"

Had him n shaq gained a better mutual respect for one another on the court....they would have easily been the best duo ever and would have won at least 6 rings together. Now he as a great 7 foot duo which plays at the same time and he opts to hot dog.

He even said in an interview the other night "no. i don't have to shoot as much but we like to do it to use as a weapon to show other teams they need to adjust." *paraphrased*

31.2 PPG 5.8 RPG 5.5 APG on 46% shooting. :o

You really think Vince Carter could even get close to putting up these numbers. Just get over it haters. Kobe is playing at a level you never thought he would. Your now scared because you know its gonna be another 4-5 years till his game drops off to the level you thought it would drop to this year.

Kobe Bryant will win the scoring title and most likely the MVP this year. The Lakers although they're really good are not a championship team right now. They need Howard to become that and I think they will get him at the trade deadline.

What's really impressive is D-Will's game.

35 points on 18 shots. :o

I am not saying I disagree but what evidence or support do you have to back up your comment "...getting that many touches at this age is a recipe for disaster...jacking up bs come playoff time"? Especially when almost everyone wrote him off this year and said he fell off due to whatever reasons...mainly his knees. If you don't mind

I must say, I'm surprised and relieved that most of the posters in this thread are using common sense. The nonsensical Kobe haters bringing up FGA while ignoring good efficiency are outnumbered. Good to see.

I'll hate on Kobe any given day of the week, but I'm impressed. He's in his 16th season, scoring back-to-back-to-back 40 point games, and doing it rather efficiently.

Give credit where it's due. I'm not impressed with how the Lakers are playing, or being coached, but Kobe is doing wonderful stuff out there. Can't blame him for having a horrible coach who has no offensive vision whatsoever.

GTFO with that. Seriously.

Kobe and Vince Carter circa 2012 don't belong in the same sentence.

i´m impressed. its tough to get 40 in the NBA- the argument everyone could shoot 30 to get 40 doesn´t really work, as teams make adjusments and you just have to be that good to still get your shots and good looks. soo it deserves respect.

i just don´t like player shooting 30 shots. period. it freezes your teammates and lets you shoot some questionable shots with no chance for rebound that is the problem. and everyone sees there are some of them every game from kobe, which is supported by coach brown, who gave kobe green light apparently. and kobe was never shy to jack em up, so i think we should expect more from kobe as long he is healthy.

but as long they win and there are not 8-29 type games, i think its alright. its kobe.

40 points tell me how good Kobe is.
And how bad the Lakers are.
Kobe is winning the battles, but Lakers will lose the war.

Except for the fact that the Lakers have won the last 5 games, and Kobe has avg'ed 39 PPG on 50% shooting

If he was shooting 30-40%, no i wouldnt be impressed.

He is shooting high 40s and they're winning. Yes, he could pass up some shots, but he is feeling it at the moment. Id say he has more control over this team than he ever has.

Cant complain if your a LA fan.

True. They've been some pretty unconvincing wins against non-playoff teams though.
