Well the Suns didn't have Nash or Grant Hill tonight, I was happy at 1st b/c I thought "THEY'RE SITTING OUT AND GETTING TRADED!!! (w/ Nash ending up here), :D but no just injured :noway:

J-Rich needs to kick rocks.....Too inconsistent and virtually brings nothing to the table that Redick can't emulate

11 games in and I'm not too impressed with our team. Offensively we are shooting the ball well, and defensively we are rebounding the ball well, but overall we are looking like the weakest team in the SVG era. No real chemistry or identity. Dwight at 37.7 MPG is the obvious staple, then next comes Hedo at 32.6 MPG and no one else above 30. I'm sure that is partly a function of having such a compressed schedule, but I have a feeling that Stan hasn't quite settled on this current teams identity and the right chemistry for rotations and roles, much like last year.

Ten games worth of +/- is recorded over at Basketballvalue, so I'm going to do a quick comparison between Anderson/Baby/the Hedo stretch 4 lineup.

Anderson's top 5 MPG units:
1. ORtg 109.63 / DRtg 108.22 (Nelson/JRich/Hedo/Howard)
2. ORtg 133.96 / DRtg 86.27 (Duhon/JRich/Hedo/Howard)
3. ORtg 85.71 / DRtg 100 (Duhon/Redick/JRich/Baby)
4. ORtg 129.63 / DRtg 88.46 (Duhon/Redick/Hedo/Baby)
5. ORtg 183.33 / DRtg 88.89 (Nelson/Redick/Hedo/Howard)

Baby's top 5 MPG units:
1. ORtg 118.75 / DRtg 103.85 (Duhon/Redick/Hedo/Howard)
2. ORtg 88 / DRtg 106 (Nelson/JRich/Hedo/Howard)
3. ORtg 85.71 / DRtg 100 (Duhon/Redick/JRich/Anderson)
4. ORtg 116.67 / DRtg 113.89 (Nelson/Redick/Hedo/Howard)
5. ORtg 129.63 / DRtg 88.46 (Duhon/Redick/Hedo/Anderson)

Hedo stretch 4 unit (no Baby or Anderson)
1. ORtg 105.13 / DRtg 110.53 (Nelson/Redick/JRich/Howard)
*I don't have the stats from last nights game, but the Nelson/Wafer/Redick/Hedo/Howard lineup was +8 in around 7 minutes play.

So, let's first look at the Nelson/Redick/JRich/Howard unit. This is only seen with Hedo in the 4 slot, so not much we can learn. Stan has gone to it as his closing unit at times, and while last night it paid off overall it hasn't been that strong. Personally I'm not impressed and wouldn't mind seeing something else.

Ok, between Anderson and Baby. They share two units together, one with JRich at the 3 which is horrible and the other with Hedo at the 3 which is very good. They are swapped out directly in two others, which we'll look at, and the final units are not in common, Anderson's #2 and Baby's #1.

Nelson/JRich/Hedo/Howard, or Anderson's #1 unit and Baby's #2 unit. With Anderson in the offense is 21.63 points per 100 possessions better, and the defense is 2.22 points per 100 possessions worse. Neither unit is really that impressive tbh, not championship level starting quality that is for sure. Hopefully something is done there, but it certainly doesn't appear to need to be Baby starting over Anderson.

Nelson/Redick/Hedo/Howard, or Anderson's #5 unit and Baby's #4 unit. With Anderson in the offense is 66.66 points per 100 possessions better(!) and the defense is 25 points per 100 possessions better(!). Both these lineups are very, very good, but with very, very little floor time. You'll notice that these lineups would be our starting lineup if Redick started ahead of JRich...

So, after 10 games not much is very clear, but what is measurable tells us that Anderson is probably better than Baby, and that buried in rotation purgatory is possibly our best possible unit, Nelson/Redick/Hedo/Anderson/Dwight. So, while right now we are only top 8 in 2/8 of the offensive and defensive four factors, and we are beating teams by 5 points per game, there is still reason to believe that Stan can figure this out and get the right rotations and units on the floor. I think this team can build an identity around Anderson and Dwight, but it is going to be something we grow into I guess. Also, JRich missing games could be a huge blessing in disguise.

:D

Read this whole thing and the main point I got from it all ... J-Rich blows at defense (which I knew anyway)... so let's play Redick more with Nelson, Hedo, Ryan, and Howard

People can't ever say that we are the ones who overrate our players anymore. Even other Blazer fans are going to go at him for this one.

" We got Wallace for 2 crappy picks and scraps. Why wouldnt Magic fall under the marvelous, persuasive tongue of Buchanan when their player leaves at the end for nothing otherwise?
Magic needs to move, and they need to make it quickly
"

Really, guy? Really? Hell, even when we were about to trade Dwight/Duhon for Lopez/Wallace and a pick, that trade was considered an abomination by management, and even caused us to take Dwight of the market. So why would Dwight by himself for Batum or Wallace be any better?

If Dwight ends up getting traded to the Nets, you can expect to get Brooks:

We can expect? We would DEMAND at the least.

If Nets plan to reel in D12 they better take Turk and Duhon and fork over:
Lopez (injured or not)
Brooks
Okur's expiring
and as many 1st rounders as we can, seriously as many as they can.

^^Not sure if salary's match up but that's the LEAST

If not, Bynum+Gasol > Nets offer

Chill out, I said EXPECT, meaning you will get him.

And what makes you think Lakers are offering Bynum + Gasol for Dwight?

Apologies if I came across as aggressive. Read your post incorrectly.

As for Bynum+Gasol, I have no basis on they would be offering both, I was just saying if the Lakers had offered that deal it would be better.

I rather sign Aaron brooks to MLE and keep Dwight

and I always wonder, who are nets' fans? If they are people of new jersey, they should show up at games rather than showing up to the magic forums with the salesman attitude. If they are random people from new York, well, I don't even know what to say about that.

It's ok :)

I don't think Lakers want to offer Bynum + Gasol, and that is what we have heard so far. It makes sense too because the twin towers frontline has been a big part of their success. Getting Dwight is obviously a major improvement on Bynum but is it a better team for them with Kobe & Dwight, or Kobe, Gasol, and Bynum?

Yeah, I agree. Been high on the kid for a while....a friend of mine is on the school's basketball team and has played against him a couple times, and he swears up and down that he will be a star. Been saying it since before the lockout even started. I think I might agree.

He really does have shades of Kobe in him. I doubt he'll become Kobe (unless we really luck out), but he definitely has potential.

I can definitely see the Kobe comparison but i don't think it's young kobe he should be compared to it's Kobe now imo....Young Kobe had extreme Athleticism could jump out the gym....Brooks has Athleticism comparable to Kobe right now....I would also throw Brandon Roy in there in the sense that Brandon's game was below the rim even in his prime....Brooks game is Below the rim but that is not a bad thing...He is so skilled for a Rookie....Hell he's better than J-Rich right now lol....
