Without Nash, Suns are the absolute worst team in the NBA
Losing at home to the Nets with Deron Williams and a bunch of scrubs is just exhibit A. For all you idiots wanting to trade Nash, this is what you can expect to see when he's gone. You should enjoy every last minute he's on the court, cause when he's gone, the Suns will be historically bad.
What happened to the Colts this year is what will happen to the Suns next year if he leaves...

Re: Without Nash, Suns are the absolute worst team in the NB
In regards to the Peyton Manning reference, it reminded me of something the broadcasting team did in a game at the beginning of the season. I believe it was a Gentry quote that they featured where he compared Nash to Manning. I'm sure it was meant to be a compliment for Nash and convey how important he is to the team, but I (and I'm sure many others) just found it incredibly depressing considering how bad the Colts were this year. Not the best choice of a quote to get me pumped for a game/season, Fox Sports.

.... and the Suns looked like a Finals team with Nash against the Cavaliers???

Honestly, I enjoyed watching the team last night. Price looks like he can handle the team nicely, though I'm not totally sold yet that he's the long term solution. I think if we can trade Nash for a young point guard and/or a mid to high draft pick next year, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Why? Two reasons. Nash isn't going to be around much longer, so the Suns need to find a replacement. If they don't do it now, they'll have to wallow in mediocrity (no playoffs or 7th/8th seed at best -and- bad draft position) for the next couple years and then start rebuilding when Nash retires.
Or..... they can start the process RIGHT NOW, in a lockout shortened season. Make sense? Oh, and that other reason.... I respect the hell out of Steve and he doesn't deserve to end his career like this. He did all he could and, bad break after bad break, stopped him from reaching his ultimate goal in a Suns uniform. That ship has sailed and it's time to set Nash free. If there were ever a player that deserved a ring (or two, or three), it's Steve Nash. Would it hurt to see him go win elsewhere? Sure, a little, but as I said, he deserves it and it's just not going to happen here in the next 2-3 years (sadly).

You do realise that If Suns happen to trade Nash one day, it won't be like him sitting in the crowd and an empty spot on the roster like it was last night, right? You let Nash go, you get someone back to cover for the loss, that's why it's call a trade.

you won't get anything back that would make the Suns anything but the worst team in the NBA - most likely picks that will end up being crap. The Suns couldn't win without Nash when they were absolutely loaded and had the best record in the league years ago. Now imagine what this sorry roster would do without him. I can't think of a single team in the NBA that they can beat. Their only hope will be to lose as much as possible and pray to win the #1 pick in the lottery, other than that, they are doomed.

The bottom line is that the Suns management have said they will not trade Nash unless he specifically requests that, and Nash literally said he will not on numerous occasions. And Steve, on many occasions has said that he has no interest of being a ring chaser like the other tools in the NBA. So why are you and others pushing that issue so much? If he doesn't want to do it, then leave it at that.
My point however is, that people are wanting to trade a legend who is still in All-Star form for absolute garbage and picks that will most likely turn into nothing. The Suns are doomed for a loooong time regardless if they trade him or not, you might as well enjoy the ride while he is still here. It will get worse, much much worse. Years from now, you will be sitting back and reminiscing how awesome it was to have a legend like that play for your favorite team and how bad things got after he left.

Re: Without Nash, Suns are the absolute worst team in the NB
I would think this on paper, but last night the Suns played alright for losing two starters and putting in a chucker in Brown, who has taken that green light that Gentry gives out, and given a whole new meaning to it. And then forced to play Telfair, who should be playing overseas, because he sucks.
We out assisted the Nets by eight. And the Nets had to shoot 15-32 from three to beat us. That means that often they just came down and shot a three.
Morris didn't have his best game. If we could waive Telfair and get another young guard (maybe Ish) or even Dowdell back if he is healthy.
Honestly, I am a little less scared about the Suns now after them playing without Nash and Hill. I thought without their top leaders with Gentry still making terrible in game coaching errors, the Suns would lose 120-79.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And get the first (possibly) pick in the draft. I guarantee you Colts' fans are VERY happy about going 2-14 for a year to REBUILD around Luck and have a winner for another 13 years.
Jordan, Bird, Magic, Kareem, Hakeem, Ewing, Miller, Isaiah, etc etc etc....all left their team thru retirement or trade.... Lol, Nash can't play forever...oh yea, we lost to Cleveland at home with him AND we were 4-6!
Sarver is just cheap and Nash is a sucka!

Someway, somehow, EVERY other team in the league manages without Steve Nash. Go figure.

Do you really think everyone who wants Nash traded doesn't know is? Everyone who wants Nash traded is aware of this. They either 1. want to be one of the worst teams in the league to get a top draft pick or 2. they think he's wasted here and it doesn't matter how much worse his leaving makes the team because this team has zero chance to challenge for a championship. I fall in the latter. We're obviously not going to win this year no matter what. It makes no difference if were the 8th seed or the 15th seed. But if Nash was traded, at least he could have a chance to win.

Re: Without Nash, Suns are the absolute worst team in the NB
To the OP.
1. You and others shoul of known that one day the Suns will suck again. It was guaranteed, unless you're the Lakers. But even they still missed the playoffs several years ago. Sports is a cycle. Spurs will suck when Duncan retires, but they are doing a lot of preparations to ensure the duration of suckiness is very short. Making moves to draft Kawi Leonard is one, slowly incorporating Splitter is another. They will hit rock bottom at some point but will have pieces to rebuild upon.
The suns have done small moves similar to Spurs. Drafting Morris has paid off so far.... But the Suns are further ahead of the Spurs in terms of declining. Suns are about 2 seasons ahead o the Spurs in terms of decline. You should of known Suns are bound to enter this phase in a cycle, the FO was optimistic to think they can extend Nash era.... They tried and it shows that they are by successful. So what's best course of action? Immediately express the rebuild, and hope to contend in 2 seasons with a new core.
2. With regards to 1, Nash isn't a God, where he doesn't age and can play foreve.
3. Usually in the past, Suns was able to bounce back quick by signing a couple of FA. ALL GOOD.
But, this time around players have different mind set. The NBA has changed that Big City teams are willing to overpay dramatically to be a contender and players tend to want to play wih other stars, the league is currently feeling the Celtics 2008 aftermath. Stars want super teams to get their ring chasing fix whilst getting BIG money.
Suns owner and FO doesn't have good name at the moment, Suns are not as appealing as it did in the past.
At this trend, BEST way to make Suns attractive is obtain youth, talent etc.
This serves two purposes, a) young core to build around, b) acquire assets so the team can enter trade scenarios for talent.
If a star player demands a trade, suns technically have NOTHING to offer hence left out in the cold.
But if Suns have assets, Suns are in the conversation.
Scenario a) is similar to the Thunder, Bulls etc
Scenario b) is similar to Nuggets, Grizzlies, Knicks (how they got Melo)
When people here say trade Nash, it's because it's for the better of the Suns in the long haul.
Theres a strong scenario that the Suns can just let Nash expire, that's okay too but chances are he will walk with nothing coming back to the Suns, not only that he helps the Suns get a record good enough to NOT get a good high pick. That's just TERRIBLE scenario.
This season is PERFECT to 'suck' as its a season in disarray where there are 2-3 teams so much more stronger than anyone else. And it's also a short season AND the draft has amazing talent in the top 10.
If you truly care about the suns franchise you'd see why some posters want the suns to tank.
However I can understand also if you want the suns to compete as its worth watching for you, you find entertainment watching the team fight.
But for some, we want Legitamacy. Basketball is not just entertainment anymore, we feel attach tithe franchise overall. We want a team to win a ring, we want the team to once again smash the Lakers. We want to rebuild now before the Lakers do their rebuild so we will have 5-6 years enjoying beating the Lakers around whilst they begin their rebuild.

I do savor every minute he is on the court. It's an era of basketball I will never forget. But with or without Nash, we aren't winning a championship any time soon. Nash had had the worst playoff luck in his career. He deserves to hold the Larry O'Brien Trophy. You might as well do whatever you can to get him on a contender and just get some draft picks in return. Then just go into a mass rebuild. Start over. Get a new coach. It's so sad that Nash has to be the age he is.

ok, do you realize who they played? The Nets? at Phoenix? without their top scorer playing (Brook) you sound like hey, they gave it their all playing against a top notch team. We're talking about quite possibly the worst team in the league. You're proud they didn't lose by 40 to these guys? What do you think is gonna happen when they play legit teams?

but again, it's a moot point since the front office literally said they will not trade him unless he requests a trade, and Nash literally said that he won't do that. Which is why i still don't understand why every time I come here I see some idiot posting a stupid sinerio like Nash for Sasha Vujacic and draft pick. I just want to smack the **** out of these people when I read that.

But the NBA is a fluid business, and just because something was said, doesnt mean that its set in stone. Things change, s**t happens, and a lot of whats being said is merely lip service. I just want to smack the **** out of the people who dont understand that.
