The only way the hawks would trade Horford to Milwuakee is for a package centered around Bogut (but I would never do the trade I'm talking about the front office), and as of right now I want nothing to do with Bogut; the guy got hurt (again) this time he got a concussion. Superiorblogman: I'm siding with you on this one, Zaza, Hinrich, and a first rounder or 2 for Bogut is the only trade I would do for the Aussie. I can imagine a frontcourt of Smoove Al and Bogut, that would be sick (assuming everyone stays healthy)

I will just seat tight and maybe sign either Priz or Hilton Armstrong who was in competition with Salomon for the LAC back-up big job.
If another player gets hurt, then tank the season. Remember SA the year Duncan got drafted. They became champion right away...I think that Drummond could have that impact IF he is not another Cousins.

Man why is everyone assuming Drummond will declare, the guy said he's going back to school and NOT declaring and until he says otherwise I have to believe he's not declaring. As for the playoffs even without Al we're gonna make the playoffs, we're far too talented to not make the playoffs with this core especially the level Josh is playing on; I believe we're gonna get the number 4 seed, I just watched Boston on ESPN and they looked old and worn down, I don't believe Boston will end up in front of us this year. Go ahead guys attack me for saying we're gonna be number 4, call me an idiot, one thing is for sure: Sekou Smith agrees with me. http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2012/01/1 ... ef:nbahpt1
i cant see atlanta getting the 4th seed. miami , chicago and the sixers will win their divisions and unless orlando trades howard they will finish 4th . i thought the hawks would be 5th like last yr but now i think the pacers will get 5th . ill say atl finishes 6th . this is if the hawks stay as they are now without a huge trade around the deadline . i dont think 6th would be that bad we would be matched up against the sixers and if horford is back for the playoffs thats a team we can beat .

What's that you say, Bogut got hurt again???? Man, one more injury and he'll almost be as injury prone as Al Horford.

Al Horford had a career low in FTA and is 25yo without the length to extend in the post. He is smart because he stays away from weaknesses. But his weaknesses are what prevent him from being a Gasol, a KG a low post or paint threat.

Can't be me. I predicted him getting injured on his signature awkward drives. Always thought it'd be the ankle though.

Speaking of that 2011 pick, here's a trade question from a Wiz fan. Chris Singleton was that pick. He's now starting at SF for Washington. He's showing to be a capable defensive specialist who understands that his role on offense is to be unselfish and just shoot when left open - and he's starting to hit some 3's. How about Singleton and Andray Blatche for Marvin Williams? Blatche has been mostly a PF, but he's near 7 feet tall and over 260 (unfortunately not all muscle) - and at this point - probably more suited to play C than PF. He's very skilled and can put up numbers, but he's not particularly efficient and hasn't dedicated himself to working hard. But who knows, maybe with a change of scenery... It's not an ideal trade, but maybe it helps. Thoughts?

The second the 2011 draft was over they could trade their 2012 pick.

The Stepien rule applies only to future first round picks. For example, if this is the 2005-06 season, then a team can trade its 2006 first round pick without regard to whether they had traded their 2005 pick, since their 2005 pick is no longer a future pick. But they can't trade away both their 2006 and 2007 picks, since both are future picks. Teams sometimes work around this rule by trading first round picks in alternate years.

Thanks for the clarification, Alleyoops. I hadn't realized that was within the rules.

Houston could send a package to make ATL better this year:
Dalembert 7
Scola 8.6
Plus one of: flynn 3.4, JHill 2.85, Dragic 2.1, CLee 2.2)
for
Horford 12.0
salary filler - ZaZa 4.75 (or if other Hou role players added, switch to Marvin 7.5)
Would want to try to get protected #1 also.

ATL could get a center (not sure if there is a dealy on doing this deal since Dalembert signed recently), another big man in Scola to give the team plenty of inside punch and options depending on matchups, and another quality young peice depending on where they need help off the bench (probably pg?).

Houston obviously get Horford for next year. Gets much worse this year = better pick.

I'd do this deal if the we got a 2012 pick that was unprotected from Houston, but I don't think Houston fans would do that, honestly this is one of the best trade offers I've seen on the board these days (of course most of the trade offers were crap) I just don't understand why people are underrating Horford so much, even if he's injured. I mean Horford for Varejao and a 2013 first? Are you kidding me!?!?!?!?

any way of trading for jason thompson of sactown? i know the kings offered him to the hawks in the past and we declined but at 6-11 250 lbs with mobility like horford, i think he's worth a look.

The Kings really want Teague, he would fill a PG role for them, they asked for a Teague for Thompson trade straight up last year and Sund smartly declined, they're probably gonna ask for Teague again and we would say HELL NO!!!
