Yankees, Angels Discussing Trumbo?

Jan 14, 2012 8:48 AM EST
The Yankees and Angels are discussing the possibility of a trade involving first baseman Mark Trumbo, according to a source.

Los Angeles signed Albert Pujols earlier this offseason, making Trumbo somewhat expendable.

It's possible that New York could move reliever David Robertson in a deal for the young slugger.

Heck no. Robertson was arguably the best relief pitcher in the majors last year and is the most (current) obvious choice to replace Mariano in a year or two. Trumbo is a hacker. Sure he can hit some homeruns and was the runner up to ROY last year but don't like his swing nor defense. Would basically be trading for a free swinging DH. Might as well just sign Pena and have him platoon with whatever old Yankees that need days off.

No chance we trade Robertson for Trumbo. This guy just throws him out there as a possibility, he don't know his left from his right who would be involved.

Trumbo has a career obp of .287, that just does not fit what we do around here, and for one of the best relievers in the game?..... smh , i hope this is wrong

Lets hope not. I'd even pass if we were talking about Hughes for Trumbo and I'm about as anti a Hughes fan as there may be among the Yankee fan base. Yanks with Texeira here for basically forever, have really no need for a guy like Trumbo. Certainly not if it means giving up Robertson (who managed an absolutely mind numbing 100 strikeouts in just 66 innings pitched to go with a microscopic 1.08 ERA and a WHIP of 1.125). I mean that's just insane numbers, I-N-S-A-N-E! And all of that pitching in the AL, pitching in the AL East, pitching in Yankee Stadium.

Very few guys out there I would trade Robertson for and Trumbo doesn't come close to being one of them.

Cash cant be that stupid can he? DRob seems to be the heir apparent for the Closer's role when God decides to retire.

Now that we've got Pineda on board I wouldn't be so against trading Betances for Trumbo (maybe plus a minor leaguer or two). Now we've got some really good young pitching and lost a slugger. Well, we can flip the switch, and have both.

But I would definitely not send DRob or Banuelos if given the opportunity.

1B is a lower priority to finding back ups for SS, 3B, and LF......

You can't be serious. If you are, you should quit being a Mod because that's just embarrassing.

yanks have a abundance of pitchers, plus next year hamels is a FA
yanks want to stay under 189
yanks have swisher granderson and cano coming up for extension

if NY can find a good prospect, who can play multiple OF positions or something, you have to do it...in order to stay at 189, ny will need some position player that isnt being paid a premium at that spot
