Henderson at SF, thoughts?
Hey guys, Mavs fan here. Just a quick question. Do you guys think Silas will stick with the 2 small guard backcourt in DJ/Kemba and use Henderson at SF even when Maggette returns? Personally, after watching today's game, I like the smaller lineup.

Re: Henderson at SF, thoughts?
i am thinking this was a temporary lineup to help matchup with the warriors small backcourt.... but i could be wrong.
ideally we use this lineup whenever we can, but against teams like the hawks, it doesnt work.
then again, tyrus at small forward didnt work either.

Re: Henderson at SF, thoughts?
I see no reason Hendo couldn't be an SF longterm, we would just need a taller SG to make up for it, I wouldn't mind drafting Lamb if that meant moving Hendo to SF. Once Biyombo becomes a viable starter, it wouldn't matter who our front 4 would be, we would be guaranteed to be atleast 15th in defensive ranking with him as a starter.

Re: Henderson at SF, thoughts?
I think Gerald Henderson starting at SF was only temporary. Paul Silas might continue this small lineup experiment into the next game against the Cavaliers, but I can't see it progressing into the stretch afterwards where Henderson would have to defend much taller forwards a la Hedo Turkoglu, Luol Deng, & Carmelo Anthony. Henderson is an effective player because he has the ability to score in a variety of ways, therefore he is due to have productive games like the one he had tonight against the Warriors. Honestly, I don't see no problem with Henderson starting at SF when the exception is Tyrus Thomas or Derrick Brown. The return of Corey Maggette is a good amount of time away, and even then he'll have to slowly work his way back into the steady rotation. The way I see it, why not keep Henderson at the 3-guard position until there is an better option.

He's 6'4". no way he can start at SF.

Re: Henderson at SF, thoughts?
Kemba needs to start and get more minutes but he's going to struggle at times. But I think the best thing to come out of this is moving away from Diaw being the focal point of our offense. As for Henderson, he's been defending taller guys most of his career, why not go with it til it blows up.

Re: Henderson at SF, thoughts?
I think it was temporary. Probably had to do with the Warriors as well as DJW being unavailable.
If it were up to be, though, I would say just go with it. Ideally you would want Hendo to be 6'7" and 20 pounds heavier, but lets see what he can do. Worst case it just doesn't work....so what? Winning doesn't matter anyway at this point. What matters right now is Kemba getting playing time and I think that all the way around it works better to have Diaw and Biz coming in together off the bench.
Plus, if we could see Hendo at SF being effective, perhaps that would make us more comfortable in drafting Lamb. At least it would for me. Lamb is more lanky and theoretically you could have Lamb guard the SF's as long as Hendo can still be effective on offense against bigger Forwards.
I like the rotation with DJ/Kemba/hendo/TT/Mullens. Gives more minutes to Kemba and also gives mroe minutes to Higgins (which is a young guy that we might as well play). Also gives Biz the opportunity to play with Diaw more which I think will do nothing but help him. Once Maggette comes back, it will take a couple games but I'm sure we will go back to DJ/Hendo/Magette. Who knows though, by then DJ may be gone so Kemba may be starting anyway.

Might as well, TT and UPS sure as hell suck at the 3. I'd rather have an undersized 3 and improved ball movement than brick masons.

My first thought is, no he's tall small, but then I realised we are the LolCats, we are expected to do stuff that makes everyone else go WTF ARE THEY DOING???

Re: Henderson at SF, thoughts?
How awesome would our team be if everyone were just a few inches taller (assuming everyone retains their mobility, quickness, and skill level)?
PG: Augustin (6-2)
SG: Walker (6-5)
SF: Henderson (6-7)
PF: Diaw / White (6-11)
C: Biyombo / Thomas (7-0)

I would use him there regularly but only based on matchups. You don't want Lebron and Carmelo knocking the heck out Gerald on a regular basis. But I would let Grant Hill and Turkoglu try to keep up with him any night of the week.

Re: Henderson at SF, thoughts?
**** it.... I prefer Henderson at the 3 rather then Magette, yes i know that leaves us extraordinarily undersized.... also i would love to see Biyombo try to cover lebron XD. If I remember correctly Biyombo dam near molested Chris Bosh in our heat game....

Are you talking about the game that Bosh dropped 24 and 10 or 25 and 6 ?

Re: Henderson at SF, thoughts?
Im talking about the 96-95 game in which Biyombo played 13 minutes, while Bosh did play well there were more then just a couple of instances where it was clear that Biyombo had altered or frustrated his shot, even though that was Boshs 25-6 game I would like to point out that Biyombo was only out there for 13 min, and I particularly remember one play in which Biyombo bought on Bosh's pump fake but used his quickness to recover and block Bosh's shot (or was that in the other game versus the heat?).
