Chuck Swirsky discusses his departure from Toronto

Post#1 » by bananaman » Sun Jan 15, 2012 4:32 am

Eric Smith had a chat with Chuck about the Bulls, Bargnani, and had a very candid discussion about how he left the Raptors.

He comes off like he's completely moved on, and seems to have calmed down and grown a thicker skin. Still a class act, sad to hear about how terrible the situation was that led to him leaving TO.

yea i listened to that interview during half time. He's a good guy. He's a big fan of Andrea.. and seems to follow the Raps when he gets the chance. He was pretty candid in his interview about the serious of his situation.

Yes, he seems more calm... I guess covering a winning/contender type team does that ...
Prediction
Spurs in 7. Parker MVP. Lebron 6-17fg, 18pt, 8reb, 5 asst in game 7 LOSS.
The Heat will choke!

Still miss his commentary. Would be great if he could come back one day.

He'll always be the voice of the Raptors to me.

Bargs would be lethal playing alongside a talent like Rose. I was actually kind of hoping that would happen for him last summer when everyone here was trying to run him out of town.

Chicago was like a rehabilitation process for him. We will never hear of salami and cheese ever again.

He was too much of a homer sometimes, but was much more lively and interersting. I miss him too. BRING THE CUCKSTER BACK!

Yeah, it was kind of heart-breaking to hear what the real story was, and how hurtful all the speculation must have been at the time. You can tell he's the kind of emotional guy that takes criticism to heart. Also interesting to see Bargs be so outgoing and interject on the interview to give Chuck props.
Wish Chuck the best.

Damn, that was a tough listen. Props to Chuck for being honest and setting the record straight, class-act.

It's not a surprise he doesn't keep in touch with Leo but he does with Jack. Even Matt sounds like he has a lot more fun working with Jack.

Well I'm glad the truth out there at last. There was too much garbage and speculation around the situation that was untrue. Chuck did the right thing 100% in my mind. I can't fault a man for trying to save and/or take care of his family. But I wish things could've worked in Toronto although I realize that things happen for a reason. I really hope Chuck is in a good place because he deserves it. I always loved and admired his passion for Raptors basketball and he will never be forgotten. Maybe one day he'll return (I'll keep my fingers crossed), but I don't want to deny Matt Devlin because I feel like he does his best as well, which is all I can ask. I really do miss Chuck though. ONIONS BABY, ONIONS!

Nice that it's all finally out in the open, I hope the people who called him a traitor and other things when he left just feel awful now.

Chucks real reason for leaving was confirmed on here about a month ago. Chuck tried to get his
job back after the marriage with Judy finally oficially ended but MLSE already has Devlin under
contract. Speaking of Devlin him and Chuck do not get along and neither will barely ever
mention the other.
