He seems like a very good 3rd bigman to bring off the bench. I think OKC wouldve been better off had they kept him, they could cover for his atrocious defense and rebounding by pairing him up with Perkins/Ibaka at all times.

As a Charlotte fan I have to admit that he is one of the worst passers I have ever seen.

How much basketball have you watched? Judging by the statement - not very much.

Perhaps this could best be illustrated by way of contrast.

Nick Collison is hailed as an excellent NBA player, yet he registers very little in the box score most nights.

Why is this true?

Is is not also true that a player can score a lot of points without really playing winning basketball?

Think about it some...

I mean sure, maybe Mullens is better than Nazr Mohammed, but I don't think picking the wrong 4th big is going to ruin our championship hopes.

Besides, the backup unit has a ton of chemistry together.

Who regards Nick Collison as an excellent player?

Thought it'd be instructive to check on Mullens again. His TS% is down to sub-52%, about what you'd expect for a mid range shooting big man who doesn't get to the FT line. His % from 16-23 feet is at 42%, which is again what you'd expect, not 50%+ he was at a couple weeks ago.

Mullens probably isn't quite as bad as he's shown the last week or two but I'm willing to bet he's a lot closer to that than the PER20 beast he was when he first got traded.

His averages are down to a much more normal level.

11.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, .5 assists, .6 blocks, .46 fg%, .513 TS%, .468 eFg%, 105 OffRtg, 110 DefRtg, .08 WS/48

His USG% is still abnormally high (23.8) which means he's still the focus of the offense. For reference, James Harden has a USG% of 22.7 this year

defense adjusted to him he doesnt get the mid range nearly as open anymore. the problem is nobody is using that spacing to attack the basket

I think the bigger problem was that Mullens was never going to shoot 50%+ from 16-23 feet over a large period of time.

he would if they had left him as open as they had been, which i said a few pages ago. the point is that its a new weapon that stretches the d but our team sucks too much dick at driving to the basket to take any advantage. so they dump it off the mullens at the end of the shot clock after failed offensive sets since hes tall enough to get any shot off and he ends up getting bad attemps

I didn't read any of this thread, but are people really hating on Mullens? I think he's been great.

If it's fallacy doing the hating, then it's understandable. He's one of the biggest homers on realgm, that's for sure.

We are really bad but Mullens has been a surprise this season. A trade I would make 10 times out of 10.
