Beasley as 6th man?

Until his injury, Beasley had started the Wolves' seven games. Adelman was asked before Monday's game at Toronto whether he has considered converting Beasley to a sixth-man role that might better suit his, uh, offensive proclivities.

"I've talked about that since the summer," he said, referring to internal team discussions. "Right now, we're just trying to get going in the season. That's something we've always talked about because we weren't sure how we were going to play. But it's something we're going to address. We're going to look at everything."

Having Beasley off the bench would great. It would allow us to start Rubio/Barea/Johnson/Love/AR. Rubio and Barea set up the the other 3 with open shots. We would have tons of offense off the bench with Williams, Ridnour, and Beasley. It would be such a nice change from the mismatched **** of a line up we have been starting.

I am a big Beasley fan, but I would like Adelman to play Beasley coming off the bench. If he does, though, I'd be glad if Beasley actually plays the PF spot.

Man, Besides Rubio and Barea, no one in this team can create shots for themselves. Beasley can create shots for himself, but the ball movement stops (which is understandable)

Beas right now would benefit from coming off the bench. I wouldn't plan on Wes seeing lots of pt as we move forward and Webster gets healthy.

Well, I suppose if Beasley is serious about loving it here in Minnesota and wanting to stay a wolf he would take the role if they asked him to. If he willingly embraced this role he'd get a lot of respect from me because most young possibly budding stars wouldn't except coming off the bench on a bad team.

There are opponents where Beasley should start at PF, there are opponents that Beasley should start at SF and there are opponents that Beasley should come of the bench. In a few words this shortened seazon i would not go with a standard rotation scheme. It needs several adjustments.

For example against the Raptors i would go small. Love at Center, Beasley or Williams or AR at PF in order to outplay them in isolation or half court offense. Playing Darko or Love against Bargnani is a double crime. Darko e.g. can't follow Bargnani and taking Love out in the perimeter reduces the chance of getting a rebound. Hence make the fast break bla, bla, bla...

On the other hand against the Lakers you have to go tall... Otherwise you get hammered in the paint area. In games like that you have to utilize guys like Pekovic and Darko. Just posting up hard they could wear off Bynum or Gasol. Such cases Beasley has to be your SF because they play close to the paint and it is hard to find room for easy rebounds and fast break.

I would start Rubio and never use Ridnour as a point guard. I would use him as a sg only.

Beasley is best when he doesn't have to create his own offense, although he is maybe the only guy on our team who has that ability. I love seeing him catch-and-shoot, and slashing, it's when he's most effective. At this point though, I think he deserves to start. We can always fool around with rotations like Greco21 said, but he's still the best guy we have at the SF position and should be starting in my opinion. That's assuming he's healthy of course.

Rubio and Love should be the only constants. The rest would depend on the score, match ups, and who is shooting well on the given night.

Beasley's start has been a tough one. He is certainly slumping. But i'm not ready to bring him off the bench just yet. We're seeing Beasly at, pretty much, his worst right now. He should be getting into a better stride soon. He's too good offensively to bench him after a dozen games. Give him some more games first.

I like this idea a lot. puts a scorer on the floor when rubio is out, keeps ball-killing beasley off the floor while rubio and love are on with the first unit. Put an effective shooter at the 3 with rubio (eventually williams hopefully).

Plus beasley is defending a 2nd-team scorer instead of 1st team guy at the 3.

This. I think you start to saw some of this in that Grizzles game. Beasley was much better when Rubio was in.
