MJ chews out team; does it matter?

Post#1 » by Bassman » Sat Jan 14, 2012 9:54 pm

Bonnell's article today says Jordan went into the locker room after the latest debacle and gave the team he** over their play. I presume he chewed on everyone, including the coaching staff. Then we see more direct quotes from Silas talking about his players, calling out Diaw for the lazy bum he is, and sounding totally defeated.

Here's my question; will it matter at this point? I know it's early in the season, and I'm glad MJ laid the lumber to them. Still, I don't see players capable of elevating their game enough to become world beaters. I had hope when they played scrappy against Miami and a few others early. Now they look like that 6th grade team that gets beat every game and just wants to get it over with.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

This should result in a better effort against the Dubs tonight.

Does it matter? Yes, it does, in my opinion. I acknowledge that we can't compete with playoffs teams, yet getting blown out by Detroit is unacceptable.

By the way, before the season we talked about how the team could play poorly and lack offense if Bad Porn went out with an injury. We are so far 0-6 without him.

With Maggette the Cats average 96.5 points, it's only 82 per game without him. And we actually played better teams the first six games than the last ones, so lack of Corey has definitely left an impact.

again, what the hell did they expect? This team is an assembly of scrubs, role players, and second round picks. Just like MJ and Cho wanted it to be

They need to trade Diaw ASAP. It's like he doesn't want to be here anymore, don't blame him, he's a bum, but still, he's not helping us now or in the future.

Start developing our youth NOW. They'll bring more energy and enthusiasm than Diaw ever has over his entire career.

Diaw's dirty laundry is out in the public now. I don't think any team would want anything to do with him at this point unless it involves dumping off a horrible & lengthy contract on Charlotte in exchange for Diaw's expiring, in which I don't think Cho is stupid enough to do. It is possible that Diaw could be traded in partnership with Augustin, but that's for another thread. I also don't think Diaw's lack of effort and productivity is completely a mental thing. It's more or so something to do with him being utterly out of shape going against some of the most physically-fit athletes in the world on a night-in, night-out basis.

the thing is that Tyrus Thomas has been so completely utter garbage that i would like to see Maggette back asap, and i dont really like mags.

I dont think this team lacks will or effort... they are simply not that good... YET!

Remind me to never, ever consult you Bassman should I ever consider suicide.

You might be the most negative person I have ever met in my life.

Still, I don't see players capable of elevating their game enough to become world beaters.

Really? You don't see this team as world beaters? Wow, I do. I see them as a Larry O'Brien winning team, without any changes, for the next 10 years or so.

Well Slam, we've nevermet, which would surprise you if we did, as I'm a pretty positive and cheerful guy. I am a sports realist, which doesn't make me better or worse than anyone...it's just a perspective.

I suppose I do post far too many negative comments; but...it's been a relatively "minus sum" situation for a while. I had high hopes for the draft, and Kemba's performance last game was encouraging. The youngins will need to contribute in a mighty way if the team is to climb out of the abyss.

So, let me depart this thread with a sunny comment: the Bobcats showed a welcome spark against the Warriors, and I look forward to continued improvement from Mullens, Kemba and Biz.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
