2012 Offseason Thread - Williams Still Not 100% - Page 127

Post#1 » by Mags FTW » Mon Jan 16, 2012 12:38 am

Well, damn. That sucked. We can wallow or look ahead. Let's look ahead.

First I think we should tag Flynn. We need those picks and Finley didn't really show he was a game changer tonight. We won the Owl without him, and we can do it again.

We also need pass rush. Whether it's DL or OLB.

Finally we need at least one safety, maybe two depending on Collins. Peprah was frigging awful all year.

And let's get real. Smith>Hawk. Swap them.

Agree with everything you said, its likely Clifton is at the end as well, Newhouse was solid in replacement but more depth is never bad on the OL.

You can't blame Ted Thompson for the offense and mistakes. They went and saved their worst for last.

However, he's got to take flack for not addressing the team's defensive line issues during the offseason and in general not drafting that position better. It doesn't make you a Ted Thompson hater who is seeking revenge for how he treated Favre because you point out that FACT. Your opinion on a member of an organization shouldn't be all positive or negative. Nobody is perfect, including TT. He is a very good GM, BUT he has never been able to evaluate D-Linemen worth crap, and doesn't utilize free agency as much as he could. He needs to learn from those mistakes.

This offseason he should pursue a proven 3-4 DL like Calais Campbell, use the first rounder on a space defender (corner, LB, or S) he can actually evaluate otherwise defer to somebody who knows what they're watching from a D-Lineman, move C-Wood to free safety if Collins can't return; and then maybe the team could afford the offense to have an off game every once in a while like last year at Chicago.

This team needs a defensive lineman that can collapse the pocket and another linebacker with pass rush ability. If Ted Thompson was going to pick one year to go get someone who is proven, this would be it.

We need a running back with some sort of talent to be a full time back to push Grant off the roster and push Starks to a backup. On defense we need a defensive end, linebacker, and safety.

What happens to Dom Capers?

I swear if I see Walden or Peprah starting next season......... :x

The DE's are also terrible, I thought Neal was supposed to do something once he got injury free. Dude was a ghost the whole season.

Tramon, well he's been s*** the whole season.

Get rid of Grant on offense, Clifton is done, Driver played well but it might be the end for him.

Agree on Flynn. Walk away from day one of the draft with Coples and Crick.

I just don't think any team will bite on this. I think a lot of teams would call our bluff on wanting to pay Flynn franchise money.

Like Matt Cassel? You work out the trade ahead of time, it can happen if we find the right partner. The Patriots only got a 2nd rounder so I'm not sure a 1st round pick is realistic, especially a high one, but we can certainly get something for him.

As long as the Redskins are still a franchise, there's always a chance.

I've done a complete 180 on my opinion for the tag. I'd also rather tag Flynn as opposed to Finley. We need every pick imaginable to improve this defense.

Also, never rest the starters again, no matter what the consequences are.

Man. I was so wrong in thinking Capers was holding back. Our defense is terrible. 2 defense players in the first round please.

Don't let the door hit your vagina on the way out, Grant.

Franchise Flynn - Trade for a 2nd rounder.
Sign Calais Campbell
Trade up and draft Courtney Upshaw
Draft BPA for the rest of the draft.

Pray Nick Collins is healthy, if not we need to find two capable safeties

need to draft an ROLB in the first round

need to draft a DT

More depth on the o-line, and another CB prospect

in terms of running back, im not sure what to do.. we can draft a speed guy, but im not down on starks
