Official Liverpool FC Thread
It looks like more and more threads are being created for individual clubs so I thought I would throw my support behind my favourite in Europe.
I have been a Reds fan for years and am hoping I'm not the only one around these parts.
Show some support and let's get a discussion going about the team.

Let me be the first to congratulate Comolli and Dalglish for shelling out 72 million pounds on Carroll, Downing, and Henderson.

I'd like to applaud them for the class they've shown in dealing with the Suarez situation.

Re: Liverpool FC
LOL I hope they get Jackson Martinez. It would be a nice addition during the Suarez suspension and he would be a nice back up to have....Maybe start if Caroll doesn't improve

They are making a 10 mil bid for Jermaine Defoe and I can't see Harry selling one of the 3 strikers on his roster.

Re: Liverpool FC
"The gap between their performance on the field and what the number should be is not in balance," Herbert Hainer, Adidas's chief executive officer, said in the Telegraph.
"Then we said, 'OK we will not do it'. That's the end of the story. It all depends on the success and the effort and the popularity, the exposure on TV, revenue you can generate by merchandising,.
"This all has to be brought in line between what you offer and what you get. We thought that what Liverpool were asking and what they were delivering was not in the right balance."
Liverpool's subsequent six-year deal with Boston-based Warrior Sports is worth £25 million, a figure that is reportedly almost double what the Reds earned from Adidas.
Liverpool lose adidas deal.
Good for them, they are reportedly making more from the new deal.

Well, I don't think "performance on the field" should be the no 1 priority when signing a sponsorship deal with Liverpool. Good for the team I suppose.
"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious."

Re: Liverpool FC
Adidas will regret it I think in the long run.
Win or lose Liverpool will continue to be on TV all over the world over the next 6 years and that should be the most important thing to Adidas.

"Performance on the field" basically means Champions League football in this case.
I wouldn't want Tottenham wearing some unknown brand, but they'll be making record money so good for them.

The mock jerseys/leaks on RAWK actually look better than the adidas ones so I guess the fans can't complain.

English people overrate english players a lot... What they spent on average or slightly above average players like Henderson or Carroll is ridiculous.

I don't know that we as fans over-rate them - I think that most rational English supporters are fully aware that our talent pool is not very deep. It's just some weird thing in the domestic transfer market that an English team buying and English player (or specifically an England international/potential international) is forced to pay more for that player than they would a foreigner of equivalent talent.
Most if not all Liverpool and Newcastle fans would have told you when the Carroll transfer went down that 35m was ridiculous. Hell, Alan Pardew and Mike Ashley probably would've done, too, gun to their head.

Re: Liverpool FC
Happy to see Liverpool get a forum.
We need quality wingers. Downing is average and Henderson just looks out of place. The service from the two of them has been garbage.
Carroll had a great game yesterday. I think he could still improve but 35 mil at that point was awful. I'd still pay 35 mil for Carrol rather than 50 for Torres.
Hopefully we can take the Carling cup trophy next week.
Gerrard's return has been spectacular.

What a game!
Hopefully this win springs us ahead and I look forward to better things in the future! The F.A. cup would be nice in a few weeks.
