"Game Thread" Rox at Wiz Game Thread 1/16/12 2pm

Post#1 » by dlts20 » Mon Jan 16, 2012 3:55 pm

nobody made one yet so I thought I would atleast get a thread up. Im not up for the fancy stuff though so someone can make there own thread if they want. Early game today for MLK.Things are horrible right now at 1-11 and I want Flip gone but he does still have a chance to turn it around.

The #1 thing I talked about in the offseason that would be Flip's #1 job to making us play well is that he has to get a hold on all of the individual egos that will be on our roster. Not a totally negative thing but you could tell that nearly all our guys thought this was there year "individually". NY thought he could average 25, JC thought he would start and average 20-6-6, Wall thought he could be a 25-12 guy, Dray thought he could get 24-10, McGee thought he could be 18-12-4, and so on. If we did that then we would look ugly and so far its been even worst than ugly.

I said that the difference from us being good or bad will be how long Flip took to get these guys to play like a team and realize that Dray may score 20 one night and then 10 & 12 the next 2 games because some other guys were capable and so on for every other guy. Sadly he's done a horrible horrible horrible job at this. I dont even think he tried to hid it off until we started losing when he shouldve been doing it from day 1 of camp. The shortened camp hurt but still.

The good thing is its 12 games in and we suck but it seems from reading the interviews that guys are finally starting to check there ego's and are more willing to play team ball. There realizing that they will get easier shots by being unselfish. Flip is also finally talking more about different lineups and mixing the O players better with the D players. Hopefully will start to get some more looks at the Wall-JC-NY lineups.

We have like 4 or 5 home games in a row, although against great teams. Houston is playing well right now but they are not a lock down defensive team, they like to play a lil uptempo, and they are still under .500 so this is the perfect game to see if us & Flip will start to change. If they cant play well today with the big boys coming up next then you might as well can Flip now. We should be able to either win or atleast be exciting and finally start to put up some points. Either that or Flip should be out immediatly

all I know is that I should never ever again compare players on
this Wizards team to any player who was considered a great
player in the past.

I really wonder if they'll break 10 wins this year. Seems
highly doubtful.

Rox are 11th in O and 25th on D. This would seem to play to the Wiz's relative strengths. Wiz in a shocker. SIngleton with the game winner.

considering wall has the tunneliest of vision at the end of quarters, halves, and games, i find this prediction highly suspect.

For those ready to give up on Wall already, watch Kyle Lowry destroy us today and remind yourself that it sometimes takes years for a player to finally figure it out. Think how good Memphis would be if they stuck with him instead of moving on with Conley. I remember a couple years ago when the board collectively agreed we should go get Lowry when the asking price was dirt cheap. I swear to god if the GM decisions of the past 5 years were made by polls taken on this board instead of Grunfeld this team would be in such better shape.

This post seems contradictory. There is a groundswell on this board to dump Wall - which you and I and a few others agree would be a bad move - and then you state this board makes great decisions.

Going back even a couple more years, wasn't Lowry a CCJ special?

I think when everyone weighs in, the majority usually get it right. If it were put to a poll, I don't think a majority of the board is ready to give up on Wall. We also wouldn't have extended Jamison or Blatche, traded the #5 pick, or drafted Vesely. Then again, we also wouldn't have McGee. Would Gil have gotten the contract? I'm not sure about that one.

I'm kind of hoping we get blown out so Flip can be shown the door after the game.

That would be sweet as my 5 year old son is going to his first full Wiz game today! Unfortunately, my wife will be taking him instead of me as I had to have knee surgery on Friday and still can't get around too well. There is a lot of pressure on my wife, as I told her that I expect my son to come home a diehard Wiz fan. A good game and a win would go along way towards that happening (plus a lot of cotton candy)!!!

PGs dominate us. Lowry could easily score 30 and get a triple double. Easily. We can upset this team, but we WILL NOT slow down their point guard play.

Dalembert will be a good test for McGee.

Team can't shoot at all, but I like how we're playing right now.

Blatche has been nothing but fail since coming in, lol.

Also, I think Wall is shooting on the way down with his jump shot. Could be why he's missing a lot...

Nice play. Looked like dray was running on quick sand but I'm glad he passed to Wall instead of forcing the issue.

Team looks pretty good. Houston looks tired, but the Wizards are running well despite not being able to shoot.

That last Wall drive was terrifying.
