Wait a minute. Are we........good?

Post#1 » by erudite23 » Mon Jan 16, 2012 5:13 pm

What the **** is going on with this Jazz team? Its one thing if we're taking care of business against bad teams at home in a ridiculously easy early schedule. But we just beat a top 8 NBA team on the road in arguably the hardest place to play in the NBA....on the back end of a back-to-back.

Never in million years did I think we had a chance to win that game.

Could the Jazz be.....good? Seriously? Like, playoffs?

I'm thinking we could catch the tail end. March is going to be a killer, so we'll see.

Yeah, I think so. Maybe 7 or 8 seed.

Almost all of our games have been at home for this month.
Loving the wins for now but we are in for some rough times ahead when we start a lengthy road trip.

If we can stay around .500 during that stretch, then I will maybe start thinking playoffs.

Im starting to have faith in Corbin though.

This ^^. I really didn't have much of a reason to trust him based on last year and the start of this year, but I think Ty and the rest of the staff have done a nice job of finding lineups that work and rotating guys in to keep them fresh.

Will it last? Hard to say. The Jazz have a pretty tough schedule. Hopefully the (apparent) plan of not playing anyone more than 30 minutes/game pays off later in the season.

I may have been wrong in thinking that Corbin could never fill Jerry Sloan's shoes, based on the Jazz's horrific performance when Corbin took over.

We had a great start last year only to end in disaster, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Corbin is the real deal.

Certainly too early to tell, as the Jazz have started very strong before only to falter as the season progressed, BUT I believed that they were being underestimated this year. The current roster is actually very strong, though obviously young.

On paper, I thought that they could earn up to the sixth seed, with the two most critical variables being Corbin's ability to lead this team and the contribution of the rookies. So far, so good-- on both counts.

Yes we are good! Corbin has put his stamp on this team and that is grind out possessions and play defense. Hey, thats playoff basketball. I would not want to play the Jazz right now.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

One thing of note (for me at least) is that I never worry about the game when the subs come in. I'm actually super excited to see a lot of them. This bench is obscenely deep.

See that:
We have lost
@ Lakers (they are 8-1 at home)
@ Nuggets (6-2 at home, one of those lose vs us)
@ San Antonio (9-0 at home)

and vs Lakers in a OT game. (okay they are 1-4 away)

So we have lost vs great teams in very difficult arenas. Don't think so?

Deeper teams will be more endurant as season progresses, logically. Being deep is the best thing we've got going for us.

I'm not expecting us to fall off.

Not yet. Were running on high right now and really benefiting from riding the hot hand because of our depth. The underlying problem of riding the hot hand is generally consistency. Can we rely on anyone except mabey Big Milli and The blackhole to show up from game to game especially versus the really good experienced teams? I mean versus the Lakers and Spurs, the only guys who remotely showed up were Millsap, Jefferson (well not for all 3 of those games) and Howard who is hurt. We can't have that when the schedule starts to get tougher.

So we shall see what they do especially in that early febuary schedule. Personally I hope we finish towards the bottom and GS gets sorta hot so were can get more talent in the draft but thats just me.

Oh ye of little faith :nonono:

The Jazz have a good core group AND a good group of young up-and-comers.

(have you changed your prediction for the Jazz... you better, Go Jazz!)
