No the system is designed to get those shots. The system is successful in getting open looks from the perimeter. We just aren't knocking them down.

What is the alternative with no PG? Iso ball. Which also isn't working.

So what offense do you suggest that overcomes no playmaker and nobody making open shots?

they shot their open shots well. we didn't. it was really that simple.

you're not gonna take out melo/tyson/amare at the end of a game. he could have brought in bibby. seriously though, not just in the 4th, we need our guards to make jumpers. it's the only reason they could stay in the zone. nobody can shoot.

i've been saying that about bibby. but you could've taken amare or tyson out. jorts was doing an ok job with howard, who wasn't doing anything on offense anyway - jorts also had fouls to give if he needed to hack howard to send him to the line. amare doesn't do well with the zone either. he needs to be given space, or work a PnR

For 3.5 qtrs, this loss was better than most of our wins.

I completely agree about putting in Novak and taking out either STAT or Chandler.

Magic fan here....tough loss fellas...but i feel you guys are a playoff team...One thing though wasn't Melo suppose to be playing Point-Forward? and why don't you guys use Chandler in the pick and roll more....is it because Iman isn't a true PG?

i don't want to take away from anderson or jj. i think anderson is a 3rd tier player, one that'll avg. 15 and 8 + for a few seasons. but they can't be that hard to defend man

They've been hard to defend all season. Maybe later on in the season they will be easier to defend. But right now, the so-called bozo trio of Redick, Turkoglu, and Anderson is actually pretty dangerous.

D'antioni needs to go. I was hoping that he would have this extra year and be more productive, but this 4th was atrocious. If you want to have your team shoot 3 pointers, then put in your shooters. If your getting beat by the three pointer, then maybe loosen up on Dwight. And when your star player can't even get up the court, then call a timeout.

Ugh, very frustrating to lose like this.

you don't have to beat a zone by shooting 3's...amare hit 2 mid range jumpers...the elbow jumper is a spot open in the zone defense. Yet we didn't give him a look there.

We are not a 3 pt shooting team yet our coach wants us to be....simple its his fault

You beat the zone by getting to the middle of the floor and collapsing the zone. What did we do? Play hot potato. Ball swings to Shumpert, to Melo, to Douglas, back to Melo, to Shumpert....rinse, repeat. Nobody wanted to drive.

because mike wants floor spacing....he is the coach he could have called a play for amare or tyson to flash in middle but he didn't.

especially towards the end. jorts has been doing great.

and how the hell do the knicks not play defense against the outside shooters. in rec league, if a guy isn't hitting 3's, you back off. if he starts hitting, you get in his face and not let him shoot any more 3's.

yeah, GONYK, the magic just shot the hell out of the ball. but it was also because no one was defending them. the magic shooters did what they're paid to do. against any other team with a coach that makes adjustments, the magic are going to get pecker smacked

That's exactly my point. The Magic have shooters that actually make shots. We don't.

but on the offensive end, you're 100% right. but jorts, novak, and bibby weren't given a chance to show they can do anything towards the end. that's not the players fault.

Dantoni doesn't want to use Melo completely as Point Forward because Melo is too good of a scorer and he wants to feature him as a scorer. Yeah Iman is not a true PG...
