Can novak defend guards? For what it's worth neither can Fields...

Novak can't defend any position. Fields is a much better defender.

We really have to stop jumping to hyperbole around here.

we must be watching 2 separate teams because all season i watch....harden, nick young, gerald henderson, and jj reddick tear it up and have career games against fields. There is nothing good about his defense! nothing!

balkman is apparently now shooting better. so why can't he do the things that the rest of the offense is told to do: stand there and just stay open?

now that being said, does walker do anything balkman can't on offense? the offense is everyone stand around the perimeter and watch melo shoot. balkman can do that.

ok, now that that's out of the way, why can't balkman/melo switch? can't melo play the 2? he hits 3's, can play off the ball. balkman playing the 2 can create match up problems for the defense.

my main point is just that, i don't think walker does anything balkman can't do, which is why i don't see why balkman can't be there on the floor with shump (or davis when he comes back), melo, amare and TC

If this is what you're looking for, then it's more realistic to put Jeffries in that type of lineup instead of Balkman.

Therefore, you could try something like this out...

PG: Iman Shumpert
SG: Jared Jeffries
SF: Carmelo Anthony
PF: Amar'e Stoudemrie
C: Tyson Chandler

moving stat to the bench creates depth and he will fare better against bench players.

let him work pick and roll with lin, have floor spacing with walker, throw jordan, balkman, and douglas out there with stat.

I wasn't entirely serious with starting novak at the 2...but he is more of a 2 offensively then fields and its not like fields is stopping anyone defensively!

It would be pump fake drive all day if Novack sees any time at the two which would cause someone to run out to help (breaking down our defense) or leave our bigs exposed to get cheap fouls... Basically negating any positive Novack would bring on the offensive side....

Excellent defensive game! This guy really exposed Dwight Howard for the fraudulent manufactured NBA superstar that he is. He is fully capable of defending Howard one-on-one and shut him down basically whenever they went head-to-head and were actually allowed to play.

Please, Howard just had a off game. If NY played the Magic in the 7-game series, Howard would MURDER Chandler 5-6 out of those 7 games.

Also Ryan Anderson isn't a scrub, therefore he can't be the SOTN. Almost every time I watch him play he's has over 20+ points by the end of the game. I'm not even going to acknowledge the Dwight Howard SOTN comment.

You are delusional. Howard sucks offensively. Stop being mesmerized by his body, physical gifts and athleticism and trust your eyes. He has no legitimate offensive basketball skills. He has trouble with anyone he cannot simply overpower or outjump. He struggles against any center with comparable size who is not a complete stiff. I clearly remember the defensive zombie Eddy Curry even giving him fits in the paint. Howard would be a scrub if he played C in the 90's era. In fact, he'd probably be a PF...like a watered down version of the in-prime Shawn Kemp.

Honestly, aside from the 4th quarter, it wasn't that bad. The only problem throughout the entire game was our inability to chase their shooters off the line.

I doubt his wingspan is longer than Fields'...and if it is, then not by much. Novak has even less lateral quickness than Fields...and he's also slower. Stop with the defense bit you have going...
