yeah, but balkman is showing improvement on offense. JJ still doesn''t know that he's allowed to touch the ball

What improvement has Balkman shown? Let's be real here.

Balkman has made one three point shot this entire season, ONE!

Most of Balkman's points this season haven't come from jumpers. Most of them are still the clean-up type buckets he got back in his rookie season.

i pretty confident u could drop 20 with landry guarding you...as long as u have some lateral quickness and can come off screens ur golden!

Question would be, who would you be able to stop on defense. Fields or Novak. :D

beyond this one game and whatever adjustments we could have made, we need guys to hit open jumpers. it's hard to win when you can't do that.

Novak is a worse defender than Fields.

No you weren't. You were saying start him.

Nobody disagrees that he should have been in the game when the Magic went zone.

start novak, start balkman, start jeffries, at the 2....all them are better then landry at this point.

Shooting guard - novak can shoot

Jeffries could probable guard 2's along with balkman better than fields...right now we are starting a 2 guard that can't guard 2's and can't shooot! you don't see that as a problem for the 2 posiiton?

Excellent defensive game! This guy really exposed Dwight Howard for the fraudulent manufactured NBA superstar that he is. He is fully capable of defending Howard one-on-one and shut him down basically whenever they went head-to-head and were actually allowed to play.

Please, Howard just had a off game. If NY played the Magic in the 7-game series, Howard would MURDER Chandler 5-6 out of those 7 games.

Also Ryan Anderson isn't a scrub, therefore he can't be the SOTN. Almost every time I watch him play he's has over 20+ points by the end of the game. I'm not even going to acknowledge the Dwight Howard SOTN comment.

You are delusional. Howard sucks offensively. Stop being mesmerized by his body, physical gifts and athleticism and trust your eyes. He has no legitimate offensive basketball skills. He has trouble with anyone he cannot simply overpower or outjump. He struggles against any center with comparable size who is not a complete stiff. I clearly remember the defensive zombie Eddy Curry even giving him fits in the paint. Howard would be a scrub if he played C in the 90's era. In fact, he'd probably be a PF...like a watered down version of the in-prime Shawn Kemp.

I think you're the delusional one here.

Well unless you want to consider Walkers 2 previous seasons as proof, the only guy that can be relied upon to consistently hit open jumpers is Novak. Which again, goes more to highlight that this mix of players does not fit the coach, more so than Novak being any real great player.

moocow007 wrote:What other ways??? What exactly is Fields doing out there that can't be missed if he's not out there??? Not defending? Not shooting? Not rebounding? Not rotating? Not doing anything useful?

I mean honestly, on the one hand you want to support D'Antoni and yet on the other hand you don't want the one guy on this team that can actually hit a 3 (you know, D'Antoni's favvy) to get serious minutes.

I'm not a D'Antoni supporter. I'm just not a torch grabber like so many other on this board. I blame him for what he's responsible for, and blame the players for what they are responsible for.

Novak shouldn't get serious minutes. He's a liability every second of the game he's not shooting. He's like Jonathan Bender, but worse.

Fields is a better defender in terms of physical abilty, as well as awareness. A better rebounder, ballhandler, passer, and cutter. He's also a better finisher.

Have you ever seen Novak play?

I think for the offense to work Fields has to breakout of his slump (it isn't happening if it hasn't yet) or Novak should be on the floor, even if Melo has to defend the SG.

novack can't guard the 2. we'll be helping him all game long and someone else will be open. those other guys shoot worse then landry. there's no solution if these guys don't make their way out of their slump.

No sh*t, but he would give up more points than score...and his poor defense would keep our defense rotating like a f*cking dreidel. We'd be out of position every possession. You sound like Mike D'Antoni.
