Timberwolves Coaching Tree

Post#1 » by weasel » Thu Jan 19, 2012 9:38 pm

Does anyone else think it is odd that despite how much of a laughingstock our beloved franchise has been throughout it's history, there are currently FIVE head coaches that have legitimate ties to us?

McHale at Houston
Brooks at OKC
Casey at Toronto
Corbin at Utah
Flip at Washington

Does any other team have this kind of coaching pedegree?

Tom Thibodeau was an assistant coach for the Wolves from 89-91.

Because the NBA has a lot of player/coaching movement, you could probably find similar situations elsewhere. Brooks/Corbin haven't had ties to the organization since their playing careers but were generally regarded as high IQ players, same with Mitchell.

McHale was a joke of a b-ball VP but he is a pretty dang good coach.
