I remember how big Carter was when I was a kid. Cancer sucks, so i pity him.

Yeah, I was big Expos fan as a kid. Hawk, Cro, Raines, Ellis Valentine ( :( ) ... all those guys. Carter wasn't just a player, he was a life force. Maybe he came across as being just too conscious of his wholesome image, but I think it was (mostly) genuine.

So for him to be felled so young by such a debilitating disease is, as Alanis would say, "ironic". But, like rain on your wedding day, it really just sucks.

The particular types of brain tumors from which Carter is suffering are inoperable and are the same that eventually proved fatal for former baseball notables Bobby Murcer, Dick Howser, Johnny Oates, Dan Quisenberry and Tug McGraw.

That seems ... odd.

Always sad to read graphic descriptions of how people suffer from cancer.

I don't usually get too upset when celebrities or athlete have problems but this one really sucks. :(
Was a huge Expos fan growing up in Montreal and went to his final game at Olympic Stadium. The place was packed and he got standing ovations for each at-bat. I brought along a hand made sign that said "Merci" but instead of the "M" I used the Expos' red, white, blue logo.
When he drove in the winning run, the place exploded and to my amazement, on the giant screen, they showed my sign as I held it up. One of my favourite sports moments. I wish him well.

Gotta say, I think this post is pretty inconsiderate.

i think you misunderstood what j-roc was saying. i assume he meant that its sad to read the details on one's suffering. and he's 100% correct.

I took what he said to mean that the act of reading the graphic details of ones suffering supersedes that of the actual suffering which the victim is enduring. The the act of having to read/hear about it is more upsetting that the scenario itself.

If I misinterpreted your post J-Roc, my apologies.
