Batum said he'd never sign with the RAPS...

Post#1 » by E-TRAK » Fri Jan 20, 2012 7:23 am

According to twitter - WolstatSun's avatar@WolstatSun: RT @jberteraut: Batum already said in a French interview that he'd never sign with the Raps because of what happened before the draft...

Anyone know what happened before the draft?? :-?

French swingman Nicolas Batum, projected to be a late first-round NBA draft pick, stopped participating in a workout with the Toronto Raptors earlier this week after a stress echo test -- a treadmill test that measures the health of the heart -- came back in the "borderline" area.
There is an issue with Batum, and nothing is clear," his agent, Bouna Ndiaye, told ESPN.com on Friday afternoon. "The number [the score on his stress echo test] could be a borderline problem if he had a family history of heart problems. But I talked to Nicolas's mother and she said his father didn't die of a heart problem. His team in France and the French national team test him regularly and said they've never seen any indication that he had a heart issue."
Remember when’ is the lowest form of conversation.

Somehow this will be BC's fault ....

Since when does Weems bring any kind of defense to the court anyway?

I don't think anyone here really wants to give him 4-40 or something like that anyways. Let's get our 3 in this draft.

 It's easy to talk now but if we offer more than everyone else, I don't think we should, then I'm sure his tune will change.

Overrated. The guy is a role player.

He's also pretty soft which is a reputation we've been trying to get rid of for the past 5 years now.

I doubt if he was on the shopping list any ways.
He is one of a large group of players that intrigue and never quite deliver unfortunately DeMar is turning into that type of player.

Lol at you guys, he says he is not coming so now he sucks and will be overpaid anyway.

Outside of getting a franchise 3 in this draft, Batum as a FA is the best we could reallistially dream of. Unlike our guys he provides on both ends of the floor and contributes even when he is not scoring. And he proved time and time again that when needed he can be a solid scorer and nice 3rd or even 2nd option. His play for the french team was terrific and lead them to the Euro Finals and he was great for Nancy and finding ways to provide solid contributions to the Blazers despite playing behind gerald Wallace. He has lenght and versatility.

He never said anything about the city, he was just hurt in the draft process, when we basically put his draft stock and entire career in jeopardy with claim of medical issues...

too thin to defend REAL small forwards.

I'll take him as a 6th man. Not for us I'm sad to say..

Thank god. At least we know BC won't be overpaying another role player.

Damn. For those that didn't want him and are calling him overrated, he's better than the majority of the players on this team. Even if he is a role player which is sad.

Ya its pathetic how untalented we are. He is probably our second best player on the current roster. I don't think we should overpay him but he would def be an upgrade

I heard from portland board saying how he was supposed to be a really good defender but really let the portland fans down cos he wasnt playing any good D at all last year. I rather have Barnes or MKG than this guy thats for sure.

Batum is set to be a restricted FA that the Raps had very little chance of getting anyways. No loss here. If they feel they need a 2-way SF this summer, my bet is that they will look at Andrei Kirilenko.

I mentioned this in GT:

At the risk of sounding bitter, I wasn't really intrigued with the idea of overpaying for Batum anyway. Seems to me like a player who's great to have on a good deal but wouldn't be worth the premium we'd have to pay to get him over here.

That is a little selfish for hating people disclosing his health status?
I am not sure if Batum can hide them forever, but to me, it is just having Raptors as the GOAT. These information might be found by other teams anyway, and if he is that good, his stock won't fall.

+1

I liked him before, but not now, and that's not much to do with how he is as a player than it is the circumstances surrounding of acquiring him. It's kind of like saying it's the difference between us wanting to draft Andre Iguodala, and then trading for Andre Iguodala with Jonas and our first round pick. Hardly a great comparison but I hope it gets the point across.
