49ers vs. Giants

Post#1 » by Sandlot » Fri Jan 20, 2012 5:11 pm

I'm not going to lie, I'm a little nervous. The Giants are a different team than the one we played in the regular season. We are going to have to run the ball well.

Yup. I think the winner of this game will win the Superbowl. I think Smith might have to pull another Brees (maybe eventually we'll call it a Smith) this week because they'll make it a point to stuff the run. But I believe in this team. This reminds me of the Giants World Series run where at a point, you just believe they're going to come through one way or another. We did a good job of making the Saints one dimensional last week (even though they put up 32 points) and we have to do the same thing this week. Keep their attack unbalanced.

Let's go Niners!

Also, if it rains on Sunday, who benefits most? I'd say Niners.

Agreed. I wish the weather would have been more like this throughout the year so they were more prepared but it may be a run heavy game and we obviously benefit there.
The thing that worries me is that the Giants don't have a big deficiency like the Saints did on defense. I also worry about our energy. This is a team that had 4 guys with playoff experience before last week. I hope we didn't give it all last week.
Ultimately I really believe that our team is better but it only takes one mistake to be knocked out. I heard Walker is back. That could be a huge boost. Anyone know about Ted Ginn? Special teams is going to be crucial.

Well, at least we can't feel any worse than Kyle Williams, nor will we likely get death threats.

Gonna be fair with criticism, Alex Smith was god awful for the majority of the game as well.

Yeah I went through my anger stage, and now I just feel really bad for the guy. He's a good 2nd/3rd receiver especially for his second year. Just had his worst game of his career on one of the biggest stages there is.

Same here. I feel bad for the kid. He is getting killed on Twitter by idiots. I hope his family was in town for the game because he is going to need some friendly faces around him for awhile.

I saw some guys on the team giving him a pat on the back after his costly mistakes. The team knows it wasn't on purpose and nobody feels worse about it than him, and to be fair, Williams wasn't the only one having a bad game. With just a few exceptions, the offense was absolutely terrible, from both the coaching and the players on the field.
