The issue tonight won't be IF we lose--by all accounts it's likely we will since Denver is hot and we are in a huge funk--the issue will be if we compete. It's one thing to lose to a good team, another to come out with no fire and desire which should get the coach canned at this point, Baron or no Baron. If the players have tuned out the coach Baron isn't going to help that.
I still think that a lot of players besides Amar'e do not buy into D'Antoni, do not particularly like him, and this goes back to when Billups and Melo were tag-teaming him last year about the need to emphasize defense while Stat was saying exactly what he's saying now: "Guys just need to buy into the system".
When Chauncey was amnestied he said in a moment of angry honesty that he thought the Knicks were still a few pieces away from being a championship contender, "but wouldn't say what those missing pieces are." I think one of those he was talking about is the coach. I think Melo feels the same way.
