Meet the future of your Detroit Pistons...

Post#1 » by FlipTSO » Sat Jan 21, 2012 8:35 pm

33 yr old, 6-6, Lebanese swingman Fadi-al-Khatib

Is Fadi al-Khatib NBA material? It’s a question that has been continuously asked by basketball fans on the internet, considering his huge contribution to the success of the Lebanese national team over the past 10 years.

The answer to the question has come from the Detroit Pistons, who have recently been exchanging emails with Fadi, as “The Tiger” confirmed to The Daily Star in a phone call. A contract may be signed as early as this summer.

“It’s true. I have been exchanging emails with Joe Dumars [Detroit Pistons’ President], who has asked me to come in summer,” revealed Khatib, who is 32 years old.

He added: “I don’t know yet if I am going. Playing in the NBA is something professional players dream of, but I have a family and I am starting a new project here.”

Meh... As long as it's not a multi-year deal. He can be the new Wilkins, I guess.

yeah, but my problem is why we are always open to giving old journeymen a chance, but never young project big men?

Given a couple years to develop, this guy could be a beast. Also, if he could grow another 2 inches he will be unstoppable.

I'm seriously hoping this is one big joke. Joe needs to stop getting cute and realize he needs a rebuild. He's got two good young pieces in Monroe and Knight to build around. Get it done Joe!

Darko...

eh, Darko was the 2nd pick in the draft. I'm talking about finding project bigs in FA, D-League, trades, wherever.

Young project bigs like Keith Benson and Fesenko we have no interest, but Wilkins, Walker, and Fadi Khatib we have no problem giving contracts to.

A bearded guy with "crazy" ideas who just had a birthday late last month also had his doubters. Khatib is going to be the real deal. He's taking the Pistons to the top, baby!
At the end of the day, it's not about wins and losses. Teamwork, fair play, and good sportsmanship make champions of us all.

Go arbitrary assortment of athletes! Beat the other arbitrary assortment of athletes or my mood will suffer!

Not sure why you care.

There's no room for threads on actual players the Pistons are pursuing, but there is for fantasy trade threads?

I think alot has to be made about Benson that they would release him as opposed to send him to the D-League. He was their only draft pick. I'd love to pick the guy up but he belongs in the D-League. I would say the same for Daye and Macklin right now. I would be willing to bring in two guys who sit on the bench and not do anything to get them both in the D-League. They can't develop playing 8-10 minutes and no minutes respectifully. I thought thats why we had the D-League partnership in the first place?
