I'm getting tired of these players feeling disrespected when the Yanks don't overpay at the end of their careers for declining skills and production. I understand they have so much incredible history with the organization and were part of restoring glory to the Yanks but when did they ever take a paycut during their prime years to help the organization. They maxed out every opportunity (which I do not fault) to get as much as possible and now feel slighted Cashman and co won't send them off with one more huge payday. Sorry for the soapbox but leave the dirty laundry out of the press already.

Re: Sour grapes....
Jorge hit .235 with an OPS of 87 last year. Jorge signed a 4 year 52 million dollar deal as a 35 year old catcher in 2007. What are these over paid prima donnas crying about? Seriously? Mattingly knew when it was time to walk away. Joe D retired out on top and was an MVP candidate at the end. Mantle wish he had retired early instead of hanging on too late. Same thing goes for Ruth. Bernie was forced into retirement when he was still well above average. Jeter needs to shut the F UP. He fought for every penny last year with his contract even though he didn't deserve it and wouldn't have got 50 percent on the open market that the Yankees gave to him. And the only reason why the Yankees caved is because a bunch of idiots called in WFan and cried that Jeter might not be around anymore. Some team player he is.

It's funny...we don't talk about the money that CC was paid, what Cano will be paid...WHO STARTED IT? Yanks overpay all the time...so behind closed doors in business, a player who never got nailed for steroids, off-field problems, or anything to shame the organization wants a a fat check....hey, the YAnks aren't sisters of the poor...they BRANDISH themselves paying out through the nose.
This is business....and once again, Posada could have padded his numbers with another team to get a consideration for the HOF. Instead, he retired as a one man, team. THINK about that.

The only real gripe Posada should have is at the start of his career, when it took a while for him to get a shot in the majors thanks to Girardi and his crap bat holding onto the starting job. Jorge should at least get HOF consideration for how good an offensive catcher he was.
