Nash, Kabongo, Bayless
Lamb, Weems, Forbes
Barnes, JJ, Kleiza
Bargs, Amir
Jonas V, Acik(sp)

That team would be alot of fun to watch. Could be a contender in the near future with Coach Casey. And is very doable!

This was what first came to mind for me when DeMar started performing poorly, as a last case scenario. However, the likelihood of us sending out Jose, Barbosa, Ed, and DeMar and bringing in a top 10 (Lamb could go as early as top 3) and a top 20 pick (Kabongo could go in the teens) are low. If we could land Kabongo along with an SF (PJ3, Barnes, Miller, MKG) without losing DeMar (or anyone on your future roster), I see that as the best possible outcome. Not too unrealistic.

The only way that happens is if we get 1st or 2nd pick in the draft and assuming NO picks are between 4th and 9th.
Do a deal package DD and or Davis to get Kabongo or do a deal with second NO pick to NYKs for there 2 picks.
We might not get those exact players but very close.

I personally think we should trade Davis right now in a package for a lottery pick. I actually suggested trading him before the season started when his value was pretty high. We really need help at PG,SG and SF. If we get the number 1 pick we'll have Jonas V, Bargs,Amir,E.Davis, Drummond/Davis. I like Brad Beal with a second pick in the 8-14 range. Barnes,Beal and Derozan,Johnson at the wing spot. Jonas V, Bargs, Amir Sharing PF,C mins. We would be a good PG away from being a playoff team

Super hell yes. I think it takes more than DD to trade for a top 5. How about DD and Ed str8 to the bucks so DD can reunite with Jennings while we get their pick.

Damn man, MKG and Lamb. I think MKG at the 3 is better than at the 2 cos he plays like a SF imo.

Oh, beautiful, just god damn beautiful!

I would give BC a hand( ) if he could swing that

I'd like another pick also to pick up a SF.

If TOR lands in the Top 2 and Davis is off the board then I'd like to send Ed Davis to a lower lottery team for Quincy Miller. His stock isn't as high as the rest of the wings in this draft and could potentially be a huge steal late in the draft. If all he costs is Ed, I'd do it in a heartbeat. All the other wings will likely end up in the Top 10 or so.

I like Beal/Lamb also but any deal for them would likely cost us DeRozan. It's a huge gamble but good SGs don't come by often and if management feels like this is the time to move him, it would hurt but I guess so (not saying I'm for or against moving DeMar...I'd actually rather not).

Barbosa is playing some good ball as of late so if he could net us a late first that would be great as well.

I'm sold on Lamb after today's game... Impressive. Doubt he'll be available at our pick, PJIII then.

I know talent when I see it and Andre Drummond is still the best prospect in the draft. I'm praying teams pass on him cuz Calhoun loves not utilizing freshmen.....him and Val together and this tank was all worthwhile for me.

+ 1

Passing on Davis would be crazy though but at #2 it's gotta be Drummond. We could have a championship caliber frontcourt with him and Val. I'm hoping we grab him. IF he declares. Then move Ed in a deal that lands us Quincy. I think he'll be a late lotto pick if he declares...hopefully someone bites on Ed on draft day.

Calderon/DeRozan/Miller/Drummond/Val would be a joy to watch.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

why don't we just get 5 draft picks in this draft and field kabongo, lamb, barnes, davis and drummond as our starting five next year?

Another thing with Barnes is that he's doing an excellent job of keeping the ball away from his defender. When he turns the corner off that screen or simply puts the ball down on the floor one-on-one, you'll notice how he places his body between the defender and the ball preventing it from getting poked. It's small things like these that makes Barnes a smart ball handler. He's dribbling towards the side of his body oppose to the front where the ball is all exposed like Quincy Miller where there's a higher chance of the defender picking your pocket.

I agree. He's crafty with the dribble in the same way Paul Pierce is. Pierce doesn't get by on yo-yo handles either. This was something I pointed out earlier in this thread when someone showed a video of PP, trying to demonstrate what a great handle he had.

Of course that sounds dumb. You can't win a title with 5 rookies. At the very least the Raps would need a proven winner like Dirk to fill out the roster. Not to mention he already has history with Casey so it would be a good fit.

Don't forget, Boston is considering a rebuild so they must want to give us Rondo for crap. He's the perfect 3rd PG for the Raps behind Bayless and Kabongo.

I think he's going to be the underrated pickup of this draft. He's not as slow as his rep suggests. And a jumper can be developed, it's not like he never hits them.

I think there's so little true pass first PGs nowadays that Marshall can find a place in the league

I think there are so few pass first PGs in the league because it is somewhat of an outdated concept. With the current handcheck rules favouring guards that can dribble penetrate and get to the line, the pass first PG has become an anachronism.

Even the good passing point guards like Paul, Williams and Nash are major scorers for their teams.

Who was the last star level pass first PG who led his team to a championship? Magic Johnson?

Anyone who doesn't consider the possibility of more than 2 draft choices in the 2012 draft is either severely overrating the talent on our roster, or overestimating our GM's ability to bring in a talented SF in free agency. The draft is the most realistic approach to bringing in talent for this team.

How is it 'overestimating the talent on our roster' to know that we don't really have that many trade chips that other teams would give up their first round pick for this year? And no, I don't count DeMar or Ed as some of those chips unless a deal comes up with clearly higher value coming back to us. I wouldn't be proactively looking to move them. Patience is low on this board, and few seem to appreciate the value of keeping players in the system and developing consistency.

Barbosa and Ed can be used to net us another mid-late 1st rounder. We have holes at the SF that can hopefully be filled with our pick this year. Acquiring another pick for a decent point guard prospect like Kabongo should be a priority for this team. I didn't say I was actively looking to move Ed but we are overstocked on talented PF and understocked on talented PG. I'm not advocating for us to move DeMar either, as I know we would be forced to sell low with the way he has been performing. But sitting on your hands waiting for Bayless to break out when he never gets minutes behind Jose Calderon isn't a solution to the PG problem. Having three rookies isn't a dream scenario but when there's no way your winning with the team your fielding right now, you have to take chances.

And when I said overestimating our talent, I meant he is overestimating the ability of this team to win games without an infusion of young talent. No one on our roster right now is a starting SF or PG on any contending team.
