His teammates are standing around. Douglas is so afraid of getting anywhere near the defender when he's dribbling that he dribbles it back near mid court and then only passes it to Melo by basically dribbling it (and the defender) to him and handing Melo (and the 2nd defender) to him.

Here's why this was the worst possible outcome: it'll still go down as a loss, but instead of a crushing loss that pushes D'Antoni closer to firing, it gives D'Antoni the benefit of the doubt.
