Why are people blaming D'Antoni for this? Melo is handling the ball and being double and tripled teamed and not passing. 10 for 30 is awful. This guy is a disgrace and people are sucking him off.

Amare isnt doing good be cause he is use to team basketball offense not ISO players. As great of a player melo is and I am happy to have him, I wish he would try to change his game to adjust to how our team was rather the rest of the team adjust to his.

yea he is averaging 25 a game but its at near 40 % which is bad for a star player. Hopefully getting a better point guard will help.

Because the team does nothing wit the ball when they get it. Melo cant make all the plays. But that has been past gms....not including this one. We're getting better playing as a team.....melo has to adjust, it won't happen overnight. Be patient...hes not use to the team yet and is being asked to do somethin he's not accustomed to doing. He remains one of the best scorers in the league...we should be patient with him trusting his teammates who are now starting to come along

Pick n rolls dont work because

1. no pg
2. defense always collapses on him
3. our guards don't force help defense to where the defense gets out of position

Amare is open even when he's not on the PNR, he has great hands and moves well without the ball. Unfortunately, everyone on the team can't see that split second opening to pass it to him in traffic (Like a Nash or Davis can see).

It is just safer to pick and pop, there's no one on the team that can be trusted with a true skill in the passing game on the entire team.

Dont say that...amare was considered to be an mvp in a pretty good stretch last year.
We have no pg and tyson has changed the offense.

Not sure if that is serious or maybe I missed Nash in NY last season.

Can we send him back to Phoenix? The man has at best 2 dribbles before he coughs the ball. If aint working then make a move Grunwald!! Dont know what we can get for him at this point. A lee and Ellis deal would work, but I doubt G.S would do it now.

Amare can still be an effective offensive player, but his lack of athleticism is concerning. Phoenix didn't guarantee his last two years because the doctors said that there's a decent chance he'll need another microfracture surgery after year 3 of his new contract.

The quickness to beat his man and get into the paint isn't there anymore. Even when he does, he doesn't have the lift so he's getting his shot swatted back or he's taking it off-balance. The play where Amare got a tech, Nene played good D and beat Amare to his spot; there was no foul. And on defense, he can barely move laterally.

We can still showcase his PnR skills when Baron comes back. Amare also has a solid jumpshot, and I think it's imperative that he get the rhythm back on it ASAP so that he can contribute at a high level this season. It may sound crazy, but I actually think he has the right idea to increase his range out to 3-point territory so he can also be used as a stretch 4, especially when he's also in the game with Melo. Next season, it will be important for him to work on having a couple of reliable post moves.

Amare took that shot, got blocked, cried for the foul (wrongly), and got a tech for it.

He had that free throw line shot several times but didn't take it.

The issue with Stat isn't his skill set offensively, but more so that he and melo are smothering each other offensively as they both like to set up in the high post. Amare has no room to get to the rack.

But defensively he's responsible for so many of the points scored against the us. He gets picked a part in the PnR and if the guard decides not to take him off the dribble he finds trouble in getting back to the right defender...And most of all...his defensive rotation is awful..he needs to watch some Jorts tapes on that end.

I agree...he looked a lil better tonight tho. He has slow reaction time. If him and melo want to win...they should look at miami's team defense...everyone plays together. Its great to watch

Lets be real...

Amare needs a LeBron type playmaker at the other forward spot. Melo doesnt make guys player. Melo's still a great player though...just has to figure out a few more things.

Not saying much, but he did play one of his best defensive games. However, that tech he picked up in the final minutes of regulation was more selfish than Carmelo shooting into a triple team. Missed a critical free throw late that could have been the difference to boot.
