@VGOSWAMI

Not sure if this was intentional, but there is 1 paragraph missing from the original article by Woj...

The Lakers have been willing to give the Magic a choice of Bynum and Pau Gasol. Here’s the thing, though: Howard doesn’t want the Lakers to gut the roster for him. He wants to play with Gasol, and would encourage the Lakers to resist trading both its big men to the Magic. Between now and the March 15 trade deadline, don’t discount the possibility that Howard tells the Magic to forget his trade demand. If he’s going to sign with the Nets as a free agent, he can do it without them having to trade every asset except for Williams to get him.

This makes it much more difficult to get to LA because Fegan might have instructed the Lakers or Nets that they need to keep certain players on their team or Dwight won't come. This could only stand to increase the odds he isn't traded.

yup... he sees what's going on in NY with Carmelo and doesn't want to do the same thing to his future team... thus we take a crap package or let him walk. Tough place and a rock in this situation.

Not intentional, but I'm not sure if there's a limit on the number of paragraphs from an article you can quote. I remember seeing a mod, not on this board, saying limit the number of paragraphs you quote. So I actually started out with only 3 paragraphs but realized that I'd be leaving too much information out so I just tried to put as much as I could in without violating some rule. Maybe someone can inform me on the rule lol

yeah, that's a bit of a cock move.

and if he does the same thing with NJ, tells them not to make a trade and to keep their assets, we will probably watch him go for nothing - which i would prefer over some of the offers out there. it's just a shame we don't get a good lottery pick to rebuild with straight away. OTOH, if i were in his shoes i'd probably do the same...

Dwight
Lopez
***
Brooks/Morrow
Deron/Farmar

plus a high draft pick (Davis/Barnes/Sullinger/etc). the Nets could trade Lopez for a big upgrade at whatever position they don't fill through the draft. man, could you imagine a Dwight/Anthony Davis front court?? that team would be SICK!

Request trade, limit number of trade partners, and then ensure the return is horrible. Sounds great.

I hope Dwight doesn't do something like that.....if Dwight covets his squeaky clean image then i don't think he would play that kind of hardball....Leave us high and dry and on top of that make sure we don't get anything for him....he sure wouldn't be liked if he went that route and he might lose some respect from his peers and definitely the media....Anything can happen....I heard Gortat weighed in on this Dwight thing too and said that Dwight is unpredictable....i wouldn't put it past him

This is ridiculous lmao. Our organization is run well. We have top notch everything, from our coach to our arena. How the hell was RDV supposed to know that however many years down the line from when he hired Otis, that Otis would make a couple bad moves that would contribute to Dwight leaving.

Did you read what you just wrote? It's not ownerships responsibility that Managment makes bad decisions?!? Weisbroad, Van der Weid, Otis Smith, Co-GM disaster of Smith Twardzdick....should I go on? And by the way Orlando loses money every year. Let me give you an example. If Bill Gates hired someone to run Microsoft and gave that person full autonomy and that person made bad decision after bad decision and lost Microsoft money every year would you call Bill Gates a good owner. No you as a share holder would hold Gates accountable for his hire and demand something be done. And you sure as hell wouldn't rave about how great a job he did

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_ ... definitely

Another trade chip from the Nets, albeit small, out with foot surgery. This is the same injury that Brook Lopez sustained and had surgery on this season. James had this injury last year and this is a recurrence of the same injury.

dwight is definitely being a prick, u demand a trade, then u want to control whos in it? YOU'RE NOT A **** GM HOWARD! what a freaking dbag
aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Article today by Woj:

He says something in there about Dwight communicating with the Lakers and wanted to play with Gasol so they shouldn't trade him to Orlando. It's towards the end of the article

A common sense article, no news. He waited to break this huge thing this long and did it buried in an article? Nah, he wrote what he thinks might have happened. No source, no claims, no news.

I was expecting something more substantiated than this judging by the reactions...

Woj is the best/most reliable writer it is, it doesn't seem like he's saying what he thinks. He said it to be factual.

I trust Woj's journalistic integrity. I don't think he's randomly bringing up stuff that isn't true. Plus, it gives us something new to talk about.

Also, in the article, “Orlando is too good to trade him now,” believes one front office executive who has communicated with Magic general manager Otis Smith recently."

Wonder who that front office executive is. The wording makes it seem like it's outside the organization.

Awesome article and I am very glad to hear advancement for the Don't Trade Dwight meme. Too much logic and sense supporting the Magic riding this out.

The Magic are good but that shouldn't be a surprise and if people were moderate about their view of Orlando they'd realize that we've not exceeded expectations at all, nor have we proven we are a tier one team in the East like Miami or Chicago, but are instead still teetering on the fringe between legit contender or dark horse. Now, should Nelson and JRich get going we are elevated into the top tier all othe thigngs staying the same, but the staying the same bit is a chemistry issue and who knows how'd that pan out. IMO there is a transition taking place in our teams player hierarchy, and until that gets settled I will remain uncomfortable. Probability tells me that Dwight wanting a trade will fade, that Nelson and JRich will trend back to the mean, that Redick and Anderson are legit, and that Hedo will be huge for us. All of this means we are contenders and a tier one team, but there is still issues to settle.

Ok heres my latest dwight trade

couldn't do this on the trade machine since it wouldn't let me add hump, but he can be traded at the dealine when this trade would take place. salaries match up too

orl trades: dwight, anderson, qrich
orl gets: cousins, lopez, brooks, hump, 2012 nj 1st
why: we get three great pieces to build around, and a probable top 10 pick since nj will have one of the worst records by the deadline, and even with dwight still won't do much until they can fill out the roster in the offseason. cousins and lopez could switch between the 4 and 5 depending on matchups, and brooks is the flat out scorer that we need on the perimiter, and has loads of potential. humphries can be a 6th man off the bench, and we can let him expire, or sign and trade him in the offseason for more assests.

nj trades: lopez, brooks, okur, hump,2012 1st, 2013 1st
nj gets: dwight, salmons
why: nj will do whatever it takes to get dwight. it is just to great a gamble to risk dwight resigning with orlando or signing with the mavs, or being traded to la at the deadline. the future of the nets rests on dwight. without him deron is gone and they open at brookllyn with lopez as the centerpiece instead of deron and dwight. that would be a disaster.

sac trades: cousins, salmons
sac gets: anderson, okur, qrich, 2013 nj 1st
why: cousins is a headcase and has demanded a trade before, even though he backtracked on it. a change of scenery would do him some good and the franchise some good. they get ryan anderson back, who has been tearing it up lately and coming into his own. he can come in and start at the 4 and put up good numbers. ryan is also from sacramento and would be immensley popular there. they also get to dump salmons contract, while picking up an expiring in okur who would provide them with more frontcourt depth, and qrich, a vet who can come off the bench when need be and hit a few 3s. they also get a future 1st

i really wish dwight was staying, but i think he cares about playing in a bigger market more than winning. mabye he'll suprise me and stay though. i would be happy with this should we decide to trade him though.

There is no such thing as a reliable writer in the media. It's the fcking media for Christ sake.
