Superbowl Game Rnd 1- Bear Free Agents (closed)

Post#1 » by emperorjones » Sat Jan 21, 2012 3:54 pm

Game Rules posted in announcement section

OK, this is round one. Once you post in round two, you cannot go back and edit round 1 and once you post in round 3, you ca't edit round 2.

ROUND 1:

You have the following free agent decisions to make on your roster:

Matt Forte: $7.7 m franchise price tag - if you sign him to a contract consider his cost against the cap at $9m

Barber and Omiyale are owed $1.9 and $1.8 mil respectively. If cut, their money is added to your cap space. If not, your cap space remains unchanged.

Assume resigning any of these reduces your cap by the free agent amounts/salary ratios listed below:

Josh McCown, (-$3.6)
Tim Jennings (-$2.65)
Israel Idonije (-$2.65)
Amobi Okoye, (-$1.975)
Kahlil Bell (-$1.925m)
Corey Graham, (-$1.59))
Craig Steltz (-$1.00)
Kellen Davis (-$1.00)
Brandon Meriweather (-$1.00)
Zackary Bowman (-$1.00)
Caleb Hanie (-$1.00)
Roy Williams (-$1.00)

Make your selections. When you have finalized your submission, put the text in red and I'll lock your post from further editing. Otherwise you can edit until you post in Round 2.

1. Sign Forte to a long term deal. If it doesn't work out, franchise tag.
2. Cut both Barber and Omiyale; use the 3.5 mill for a 1 year deal for a safety.
3. Resign Bell, Graham, Idonije (depending on how much), Okoye, Steltz, Bowman and Hanie (only for less than 2 yrs)

Main guys: Bell, Idonije, Steltz and Bowman. Chicago can replace the others with picks/signings.

Make sure you got enough cap space to sign a top WR/DE/G or CB.

EDIT:

1. sign Forte- LT deal
2. sign Idonije. He's worth at least 3 mil. Good pass rusher

Cool, however, This won't count as a submission for the game - you need to 1) decide on Forte, 2) decide on Idonije. Idonije will cost $2.65m

GM Emperor Jones is:

1. Sticking Matt Forte with the $7.7 m franchise price tag (he can hold out through the 1st preseason game I don't care) = (- $7.7m)

2. Cutting Frank OMG! and Barber =- (+$3.7m)

3. Releasing/Not Signing : Israel Idonije, Tim Jennings, Brandon Meriweather, Zackary Bowman, Caleb Hanie and Roy William, Josh McCown (+/- $0m)

Resigning:

4. Kahlil Bell (-$1.925m)
5. Corey Graham, (-$1.59))
6.. Amobi Okoye, (-$1.975)
7. Craig Steltz (-$1.00)
8. Kellen Davis (-$1.00)

Resigning Charge to cap= -$11.09 m

Cuts= (+) 3.7
Forte= (-)$7.7
Re-signings = (-)$11.09

Total Change to Salary cap Space: (-) $11.49m
Remaining Cap Space: $20.51m

Positions needed after round 1 moves:

Starters: WR, DE, CB
Reserve: OT, RB, CB, QB

Franchise Tag
Forte -$7.7M

Re-sign
Bell -$1.925M
Graham -$1.59M
Davis -$1M

Total: -$12.215

Cuts
Barber +$1.9
Omiyale +$1.8
Total: +3.7

Tagging Forte would save money, but Realistically it would piss him off and I think it's importamt to keep the lockeroom and organization cohesive.

Remaining cash: $23.485

Starter needs: WR, CB, DE, OL
Reserve needs: S, QB, OL, LB, RB, TE

EDIT: Ok, I decided I don't want to pay Forte $9M over the nexxt few years. Franchise him this year and next year offer him a long term contract. I would've re-signed him for $7M a year but not $9M. I also decided to re-sign Steltz so that I only have to get one safety in the later rounds.

I edited it.

I like it. Forte wants a lot of money. But he is Bears offense so I don't want him demanding a trade. I like the Bears cap room. Hopefully they can pull a good offseason together. First time in a while with all draft picks plus extra.

Also Briggs isn't happy right now. What would you do about that? Personally he is the leader of the defense now that Urlacher is aging. Should we trade him, sign him and let him wait it out? Brian is my man but Briggs doesn't miss a tackle.

GM Chewie :

1. Franchise Forte with the $7.7m (players gets franchised ALL the time, Matt....deal with it. (-$7.7m)

2. Cut Frank OMG! and Barber. Bell showed me enough when he got a chance and Barber single-handedly put the Broncos in the playoffs. This was a tough decision as Barber looked good when healthy. The thing is that Bell and Barber have similar bruising styles. I'd rather the 3rd RB be more of a 3rd down scat-back. (+$3.7m)

3. Releasing/Not Signing : Israel Idonije, Tim Jennings, Brandon Meriweather, Zackary Bowman, Caleb Hanie, Roy Williams, Josh McCown (+/- $0m). Meriweather, Bowman, Hanie seem like givens they're gone. I think McCown was more of a fit for Martz's offense and I'm not paying $3.6m for him. We, er, I can do better in FA.

Resigning:

4. Kahlil Bell (-$1.925m)
5. Corey Graham, (-$1.59)
6. Amobi Okoye, (-$1.975)
7. Craig Steltz (-$1.00)
8. Kellen Davis (-$1.00)

Resigning Charge to cap= -$7.49 m

Cuts= +3.7
Forte= -$7.7
Re-signings = -$7.49

Total change to salary cap space: - $11.49m
Remaining cap space: $20.51

Positions needed after round 1 moves:

Starters: WR, DE, CB, OT
Reserve: S, QB, RB, LB

The problem with this, emperor, is getting enough posters to play along! We're already starving for traffic here and I see one of our participants -RLakh - has already been suspended.

Lol! our first contestant is suspended! Too funny. I'll need to find out why. I'm hoping that the signing of a new GM will bring people here and we'll have more than just you, me, Biggie, and Heir. But I'm going to leave each phase up for a while, so during the combine & actual free agency we should get some folks.

Thanks for playing Chris-R!

In other news, after internal discussions, my staff has alerted me to the fact that I must be an idiot and have forced me to release Josh McCown.

I'm gonna play as soon as I can find time to sit down and figure out my gameplan & numbers.

Usually when I post in threads, it's spontaneous & un-planned. Next thing I know, an hour has gone past because I got caught up in our debates.

GM DJ:

1. Franchise Forte (-$7.7m)

2. Cut Omiyale and Barber (+$3.7m)

3. Releasing/Not Signing : I literally, would not resign everyone except the below.

Resigning:

4. Kahlil Bell (-$1.925m)
5. C.Graham (-1.59)
6. C.Steltz (-1.00)

Chewie or Emp can you confirm my numbers cause I'm coming up with 17 mil left over after all of these but I've resigned the least amount players. I'll throw up an explaination in a second.

EDIT: Emp has my numbers at $23.485 left over.
