TI from a Bucks fan...

Post#1 » by tski1972 » Sun Jan 22, 2012 4:50 pm

Hey guys I'm new to these forums and I'd like to hear your thought on this TI...

Milwaukee gets: D. Harris from Utah and D. Diop from Charlotte

Utah gets: DJ Augustin and B. Diaw from Charlotte

Charlotte gets: B. Udrih and D. Gooden from Milwaukee and Utah's (via GS) 1st round pick in 2012.

This lets Charlotte give Kemba minutes and gives you an extra (possible) top 10 pick in the 2012 draft. And yes, I do realize you don't get the best players in return, but Gooden should be better for you then Diop, and Beno would be an adequate compliment to Kemba at the point.

Few reasons why this doesn't work:

Charlotte is trying to clear cap space and rebuild - not take on LT bad contracts with aging players. They are even refusing to trade for young players with LT contracts (e.g. the recently failed Diaw for Channing Frye).

DJA is not an elite PG but is a damn good one and MJ knows that. The cats could definitely sign him at the rate Udrih is paid and get a far superior player for the money.

The only benefit for Charlotte in this trade is a guarantee to have the highest chance at the #1 pick in 2012, and an extra late 1st round pick.

I'm hoping to pickup a PG like Lawson or Sessions to compliment Kemba not Carroll 2.0. And as far as a replacement for Diaw, we need sign a beast at center and those that will potentially be available: Hibbert, McGee, B.Lopez are better fits than anything we could trade for.

The principal of the trade is good, but drew gooden is horrid and his contract is horrid, so it makes it a hard no, if you modify the trade with gooden out then we can talk. we can keep diop if need be

Lawson isn't going anywhere, but Sessions is a good idea. Mullens and Lopez are close enough in skill and production that it wouldn't make sense to add Lopez at the cost he'll come at.
Humble yourself.

debo, Am I missing something? The recent failed trade of Diaw for Frye? When was this?

Seen some chatter about it on other boards and Bonnell has been throwing it out there

No need to involve the Bucks at all and take on their rubbish. We would just deal directly with the Jazz.

DJ Augustin and Boris Diaw
for
Devin Harris and the GSW's 2012 1st round pick

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=6wqy3pn

DJ gives the Jazz their PG of the future and Diaw is a serviceable player who expires at the end of this season creating an extra $9 mil in cap space next summer.

Bobcats hand the team over to Kemba with Harris backing him up and add an extra pick to continue the re-build.

You know, this is the most reasonable trade I've ever seen from another fan.

I don't like Gooden. I would like to see better than Gooden but this isn't a "laugh you out of my (proverbial) office" kind of trade at all.

DJ is a RFA (deadline for extension passed). so basically both him and Boris are one year rentals. A first round pick that good is not going to happen. Don't get me wrong I would like such a trade in spite of us having trouble to stay below the cap because of that Harris' contract without additional moves.

Lawson? Lawson is far too good to be a backup to Kemba. There's nothing wrong with Beno Udrih, and Augustin will cost more. Sessions though, has the size to compensate.

I don't think he was insinuating Diaw for Frye at all by those tweets. He was just showing a possible landing spot that Diaw would likely approve and be happy with. I haven't seen anything concrete even linking the Bobcats to the Suns in actual trade talks.

if there were truth to it, it wouldn't make much sense. Isn't Frye basically a replica of Mullens? Plus the reason for trading DIaw is to help even out our roster, IE, get a guard.

The Jazz might be tempted to do a trade like that. Devin Harris is expiring and under performing. With DJ that gives them a clear upgrade at PG to help elevate there team and gives them the option to keep him on with their young core. Diaw gives them some veteran depth, but if they did this you would have to wonder about Favors. For us it would be sweet to have that extra first from GS.

I thought Devin Harris wasn't expiring?

He has this season and next.

My bad, then it's an even better trade for the Jazz. I don't think we can legitimately use that cap space on real talent until 2 years from now anyway (after we have assembled young prooven talent) so I would still be down with the trade to get that GSW pick.

I feel like DJ would be better than anyone that could be drafted with the pick. But is DJ by himself better than Harris + the draftee? I think I'd take the chance too if we could resign harris for a reasonable deal.

LOL!!! We are 3-14, and DJ is likely going to walk for nothing since we did not extend him. Not going to get much value now. To get an extra Lottery pick in this 2012 draft, I'd be OK with it. Gotta do something to get worse than Washington, right? With this deal, we may land a couple Wildcats in Davis and Kidd-Gilchrist. Not a bad deal proposed from an outsider.
