one of my biggest criticisms is that we never seem to attack

I often think she's the worst, but then I wonder whether I'm holding her to a different standard, and she's merely among the worst.

Surprisingly yes, Jordan Crawford is playing much better lately (he's still the most selfish player on this team).

I thought we drafted Singleton because he could play great defense and guard like 4 positions?

maybe we should give him more than 15 games to get used to the league

I would like to see Mack get a few more minutes per game as well. On these back to back day's, Flip needs to reduce Wall's minutes a bit. Also want to see if Mack develops into a serviceable back-up PG who can maintain an offensive rhythem (assuming the Wizards ever find one) when Wall sits.

with all due respect, there's an awful lot of clucking about a 6 pt loss to one of the better teams in the league.

Except BOS is far from one of the better teams in the league.
They have a losing record and were missing 2 of the best players.
This was a winnable game.

I have no problem with the idea that playing Blatche gives the Wizards the best possibility of winning. His failures, born of low effort, are not as costly as some of the 1st & 2nd years' mistakes, born of low experience. Blatche's on/off numbers are not bad -- the only players with horrific on-off numbers are Wall, McGee, Lewis, and Crawford. That doesn't mean much given the roster and the point in the season, but it's suggestive.

I just don't care so much about winning right now, especially if it comes at the expense of player development. We need to get a few mentor-type veterans, ditch the morons, and develop the youngsters. Extended minutes for Blatche doesn't accomplish any of that.

I don't think extended minutes for Blatche will materially affect his trade value. He's been in the league for seven years. He's been playing long minutes for a couple of seasons. He's a known commodity to GMs, and they'll offere what they'll offer even if he's benched and doesn't play another minute before March 15.

Again, I think the problem is probably that Saunders realizes that his job is in jeopardy, and is playing they guys who give us the best possibility of winning in the hopes ofmaintaining his gainful employment. That's pure speculation, and if someone with more insight into the organization would like to correct me, go for it. But I can't fathom why Blatche would see floor time otherwise, given that his fate seams sealed (trade = inevitable). If Flip really does need a few OKC type wins to maintain his job, then the problem lies with Grunfeld and ownership. They should be evaluating Flip on player development, not victories.

I agree with a great deal of what you said but perhaps the issue with
Flip and his employment concerns have to do with his next contract, not
his current one which will presumably pay him whether he is fired or not.

The amazing thing is that they even lost to the Hornets.


They're not very good, but they can still beat the truly awful teams. The "best" team they've beat this year has a W-L % of .294 (NJ) - that would be a 24-win team in a full season.

They will have a lot to say about the tank race - here's hoping they find a way to lose a few to Detroit & Charlotte along the way.....

jerry sloan turns 70 in march. there definitely someone younger, who is just as familiar with the pick and roll (if not more) than sloan.

I agree with the sentiment to get a defensive minded young coach, who is OK with a fast-paced team, to take over after the season. As great as Sloan is, I'd prefer seeing him take over a contender like Miami to get a chance at a title. At this point in his life, he'd do better with players who aren't 3 times younger than him.
