Arrelious Benn was tweeting earlier as if it was a done deal.

Kelly's abandoning Oregon because the sanctions are about to hit just like Carroll did.

I wouldn't mind Kelly, he's one of the few college HC's I'd hire for an NFL team. He runs a good offense, very high tempo. Maybe he draft's LaMichael James to pair with Blount again.

I covered Chip Kelly for two years as a media member in the Eugene area. If it helps the denizens of this board, here's about what you can expect:

-Kelly will run an up-tempo offense with the Buccaneers. He has said in past interviews that he will not bring a pure spread to the NFL, and while I agree with that I think he brings some WCO/Run-and-shoot wrinkles in his playbook. He believes in a run-first offense, and I'd expect Tampa Bay to run about 60 percent of the time in his first year.
-Defensive coordinator will be a huge hire. Kelly has little interest in this side of the ball and, I believe, will give a measure of autonomy to the coach he hires for this position.
-Kelly's relationship with the media is curious. He is often sarcastic and occasionally abrasive to the men and women who cover his program. On the college level, he favored the national media with access to his program because it made the program look better; he doesn't have to do that on the NFL level, so it will be interesting to see how this develops. His answers are terse, his patience generally short, but he is not inhuman. One member of the Oregon media had a son undergo a major medical procedure, and Kelly personally sent him a card with some well-wishes.
-Kelly has a Belichickian attitude toward injury reports. Expect a lot of probables on the game-day lists, and a lot of talking around players' injuries. His whole time at Oregon, he acknowledged injuries roughly three times, and all for players declared out for the year.
-Kelly loves watching film. Yes, all coaches watch film, but he loves watching film more than most college coaches, and possibly some NFL coaches. He is a standout game-planner in that regard.
-Is Kelly leaving because of Oregon's NCAA investigation? Yes, but that's too simplistic. Kelly is going to make more money than Oregon would ever offer him, he gets to exercise more control over the Buccaneers than he could a college football team and he gets to coach football the way he wants it played. (FWIW, I believe Oregon will lose some scholarships but will evade the postseason ban.)
-I can't imagine Kelly leaving for an NFL team if he didn't believe that he could impress his vision for the Buccaneers onto the general manager, specifically regarding player personnel. Translation: He'll have a say, but this won't be a McDaniels/Shanahan situation where he calls the shots. I'd guess that Tampa Bay's draft leans more toward offense, as Kelly prefers building a team from that end.

Anything more you'd be curious about, I could do my best to answer. I will say this: The state of Oregon will be watching intently.

Aww man, I write that big long post and now he's supposedly turned down Tampa Bay. Not quite Billy Donovan to Orlando, but jeez.

Love you all, hope your Mondays go well. Sorry for the disturbance.

Nice read anyway
