I guess they have a chance to put things back together next year with a few tweaks and the resigning of Beauchemin kind points towards them standing pat and trying again next year.

They have talent, a core of Getzlaf, Perry, Ryan, Hiller, and Fowler isn't half bad its just that they garbage surrounding them. If they don't sell the farm and add a few free agents this summer they can be a playoff team next year.

They had a brutal two months. They have the talent, with a couple of smaller offseason tweaks they are probably back in the playoffs next year. You are talking about three All-Star talents under 30, you don't just trade those players...

On another note, Malkin has firmly taken hold of the Hart race.

Yeah a core of Perry/Getzlaf/Ryan is really good plus their farm hands are pretty good with names like Kyle Palmieri, Justin Schultz, Devante Smith-Pelly, Emerson Etem and Peter Holland all being call ups in 1-2 years time I don't see a panic mode for The Ducks. Bruce Boudreau has The Ducks playing well so if they could add to their core I would do it I wouldn't be taking away from it to make small tweaks or to shuffle prospects.

Plus they're probably going to have a top 5 pick this year which is only going to help them.

I don't think they are that bad to get a top 5 pick. The Canes/Sabers/Islanders/Jackets/Oilers/Lighting/Habs all look worse off. I can't see The Ducks being worse then the first 5 teams I mentioned.

Maybe The Habs and Lighting will be better,

On another note The Red Wings won their 16th straight game at home The Blues and Wings have been amazing at home two places I would hate to play. Speaking of The Blues, I still think Hitchcock is Coach of the Year the guy has made them a legit contender they were so-so before him. Tonight should be a amazing game between The Blues and Wings. Hope we can make it 17 straight at home 8-)

You redwing fans are so spoiled. You've basically been watching a competitive/elite team for basically 2 decades. Just an incredible run.

The changing of the guard in Detroit was virtually seamless

Well even if it isn't a top five pick its still going to be a high pick in a deep draft.

Timmy Thomas no showed the White House today.

I think it's disrespectful. Just go, shake his hand and go home. It's a long standing tradition.

Oh man, watching the video right now. This is sooooo awkward. Why do they have Obama read from a few pages on what the Bruins did? He knows zilch about hockey it seems.

The way this should be set up is a lunch or a dinner at a giant table. Where they all just chat. Not Obama recapping something almost a year old.

Yeah that what you get for having a world class hockey team who knows how to win. 17 straight at home is just incredible. I don't think it's been done in 30+ years, our role players have been showing up game in and game out got to love that. Lidstrom is just a ageless wonder who still continues to be a top 5 d-man right now and Howard has been nothing short of the best player on our team and a finalist for The Venza and Heart Trophy's IMHO. Without him I doubt we would be where we are now.

Funny note I seen from a Leaf fan is he described them (Leafs) to training bra all support and no cup

I completely disagree with Tim's political views, but I'm OK with it actually. It's not a required event and if he really has such an issue with Obama, then he shouldn't be forced to go meet him. It's getting blown out of proportion a bit, though Thomas should have probably avoided his silly government rant on his FB page if he didn't want the attention.

On another note, how about Ovechkin being a baby and not doing the AS game because of his suspension? If I'm the Bettman I'm super pissed about it

And wow the Canadians are taking the Wings out behind the woodshed in the only game on tonight. I would not want to be anywhere near Babcock at intermission

I disagree with the way Tim made his "statement". He could have made a political comment at any point in time. But in this instance, he put himself above the team, at a time when the team was being celebrated.

Yeah that's how I felt.

More of a team thing rather than his politicial views. He told the team this two months in advance and Chia was trying to talk him out of it. If the team was trying to talk him out of it and he still said no he's making a statement then this thing gets brought to the next level. No reports of that have come out though.

So the Blackhawks got Brendan Morrison. I doubt he'll really help them but I can't really knock the deal because they bascially gave up nothing for him.

So Patrice Brisebois is saying the Canucks are interested in Bobby Ryan and they're offering Cory Schneider in their package.

The Hawks wanted/needed a depth center and I think Morrison helps. He is a good fit behind Bolland. But getting him doesnt eliminate the possibility of going after another guy because they didnt trade away anything of significance.

Still need a d-man. Maybe two. But center was the next spot of need behind that. And Connelly is bleh.

Good to hear my Canes resigned Tim Gleason to a 4 yr $16 mil extension. Maybe there is not going to be a firesale in Carolina afterall. Glad to keep him.
