in what world a 33 year old guy who made a career of being a hard nosed defender stopped being even a good defender would help magic to get better. he never shot the ball well, he is not known for being clutch and he has discipline issues.
he no longer plays like his old elf, he hasnt been in the last two years. a team with very little talent wants to CUT him.
get the **** hint.
i think your overselling our starting SG. this team is better without JRich on the court, we've got 2 younger, more capable SGs behind him, so why bother keeping him around for 4 more years? we've got a SF who's key to this team's current chemistry, but he's bound to have injuries this season, so some insurance would be nice - that's where SJax comes in. not to mention that he's capable of being much more than that, and he's even had a 37 point game this season - how many Magic players are capable of that?
the guy has sat out games in protest, so i don't think you can consider his performance based on declining ability. he's not happy there, he's made that clear, and i think his game reflects that. poor attitude? sure. but has he got the skills to help us? definitely. is JRich just duplication right now? yep. it's a fair swap.
besides, the amnesty talk is probably just that - talk. amnesty had to be used prior to the season, and can't be used again until the offseason, at which point Jackson will be a $10M expiring who can still play. may as well jump in now and buy low.
