Wizards fire Flip Saunders

Per Adrian Woj on Twitter.

I feel bad for him. It's hard to make it work with a roster full of knuckleheads - but like Bruce and the Caps a change simply HAD to be made.

After a 2-15 start to the season, the Washington Wizards have fired Flip Saunders as coach, a league source tells Y! Sports.

More like after a 2-15 start flip saunders requests/begs for retirement.

Next up. Ernie!

Clearly the right move for both sides.

Meh...I'm ambivalent. Phil Jackson with Doc Rivers and Jesus as his assistant coaches couldn't do much more with this bunch. And anyone who thinks the Wizards would have been better with different lineups and minute distribution is delusional.

Ernie needs to be the next to go.

Agreed. Honestly we should have kept Flip through the year to ensure the worst record but I guess it won't matter who the coach is because this team just flat out sucks.

50 bucks says Andray starts rolling out his double double machine... and I'm not talking an In-and-Out burger.

I never root for anyone to fail. I won't cheer about this. It was the right move. Accountability starts at the top, and Flip had a lot of time in DC. I think he and the team will be better off in the short and long run.

Flip Saunders has been fired as head coach of the Wizards, according to a source.

Washington has talked to Randy Wittman, currently an assistant coach with the team, about taking the interim role.

The Wizards have a 2-15 start to the season

So Flip haters, are our rotations going to improve and are we going to start rolling out the Ws?

Seriously though, I'm ambivalent. It isn't going to matter in the long run.

Yup. Good luck, Flip. You lasted 7 games longer than I predicted.

I assume Randy Whitman is the inerim replacement. I do NOT want EG to be picking the "permanent" replacement.

Good move but it won't matter much. There will be a new GM next season and he should be allowed to pick his coach and staff. But we all know it's the coach's fault and never the players. Right?

Probably needed to happen, but also probably won't make much of a difference in the team's on-court performance. Of course, I hope I'm wrong about about.

It was only a matter of time. Maybe now the Andray Blatche lovefest will end. It's not all on Flip but the lack of competitiveness just wasn't acceptable.

Apple turnovers or basketball turnovers for one of the double stats?

It's the right move. The team's outlook won't change until they either get new players or the guys they have take personal responsibility for getting better.

I think certain players will see their minutes shift and the team will perform far better as a whole.

The right move would have been to send Ernie Grunfeld packing as well.

My only hope for the new coach is that Blatche gets a shorter leash.
