You know, one of the main reasons I got NBA league pass is because I thought I was going to be able to watch archived Wizards games. Turns out they're all blacked out or something. STEEEEERN!!!

Nope. If it was blacked out (which apparently all Wizards games have been so far this season) then it is blacked out in the archives as well. STUPID!!!!

Yeah, that happened to me when I tried LP years ago. I got it so I could watch Wiz games on my laptop when I was a way from home. Problem is that is doesn't matter where you connect from, LP decides which game to block out based the zip code on your account. (I ended up giving my login to wermol and even he couldn't see the Wiz games, and he's in Estonia.)

In theory you could send a check to somebody out of state and then have them subscribe to LP using their address/CC. Then the games in whatever market they are in would be blacked out and you could use their login to watch Wiz games on your computer. It's just crazy enough to work...

Rico is exactly right. League Pass exists to allow you to watch all of the out-of-market teams, not your home team.

If you want to watch the Wiz on league pass on your laptop, you really should send Nate or CCJ (or other folks living away from DC) a check to sign up. Then have them give you their League Pass Broadband login info.

I understand that. But I think it's kind of stupid for the blackout to extend backwards in time to perpetuity.

I'm enjoying league pass -- it lets me watch teams that don't suck, every night. It's nice. So I'm not totally mad. But given the stupid archive blackout thing I'll probably never do it again.

I think it has to do with local broadcast rights into perpetuity.

Think about the team in the NBA you care about the least. Find a friend there and do the LP sign up thing. Better yet, maybe Craigslist can find you a swap with someone out-of-market....(shrug)

Too late for this year. I'd already signed up to cable league pass, broadband just comes with it for free. Next year maybe I'll do that and just be all broadband all the time.

Just realized who John Clayton reminds me of. Swap out his glasses for some yellow contacts and you have....

saw some incredible HS hoops Fri night as I was at Paul VI to
see them play DeMatha. Freakin awesome game. Heartbreaker
for DeMatha (I didn't have a dog in that fight).

Harv Grant's kid is a beast but he's gotta improve his FT shooting.
