I love 3 + 1 for a youngish pitcher. Does anyone see his downside being much less than what he did from an actual production standpoint last year, barring catastrophic injury? He's worth it at the basement of his production, so I think it was a great deal. I think he'll put up some years like last year and there'll be at least 1-2 years where the bounces/breaks go his way and he potentially earns all of the money from those years alone.

He no doubt has a few things to work out still, but the potential is there. His biggest thing is consistency and struggling when men get on base. These things can be corrected so the upside is there.

To me, Morrow is a main piece. And 3+1 is awesome. Prime years locked up, with a little flexibility at the end. We needed Morrow to be a mainstay for the next few years as our minor-league pitching talent develops to either join him at the end of his deal or replace him when the time is right. His contract takes a certain amount of pressure off the whole system.

Morrow my finally prove me wrong and have a great season, but I have zero confidence he'll put it all together consistently enough for him to be a truly reliable part of this rotation.

it's a pretty good deal, not sure what the issue is. it's not 20 million, it's less than 7 mil per year... 20 million over 3 years, plus the 4th year option / buyout

I know it's not $20 mil per. I'm more just making a statement about the ridiculous salaries in the MLB. Morrow is pretty average at best and he takes in more than some of the best NHLers. In general, I'm not a big Morrow fan and I don't think he'll be anything more than an end of the rotation pitcher when it's all said and done. He occupies the #2 spot here because of our lack of MLB ready talent, but I guess we're not really competing for the next couple of years so he fills a role until our guys in the minors are ready.

Morrow's deal: $4 mil in '12, $8 mil each of '13 and '14, $10 mil option on '15 with $1 mil buyout. #bluejays #jays @2Morrow23
