Who is your ideal Center for next to KLove?

Post#1 » by rugbyrugger23 » Wed Jan 25, 2012 4:48 am

I think Wolves need an impact Center in the starting lineup more then a quality SG (true they need both). Qualities should include: athletic big, defensive minded, can score low double digit avg., rebound compliment to Love, and mid twenties or younger (for long term plans).

Who is you ideal Center for next to Love?

My vote: JaVale McGee

Those are all pretty good options.

Of course Dwight Howard.

Javale McGee would be the high-upside, uber-athletic, defensive stud.
Marc Gasol isn't as athletic but has a much higher BBIQ and very good interior scorer, solid D.

Would be upset with any of those guys. But would rank them as:

1. Howard
.
.
4. Gasol
.
6. McGee

DeAndre Jordan is another option though he isn't much of a scoring threat. Can Serge Ibaka play major C minutes? Perhaps Anthony Davis can adds some lbs and fulfill that role though we'd need to acquire a high draft pick.

Noah would be a good fit, not perfect.

The perfect fit is Dwight Howard...but that won't happen. Gasol is a good fit as well.

The perfect fit is an athletic shot blocker who also plays good defense, average or better rebounder, and has a good post game. Get me that guy. Roy Hibbert is pretty close to that.

Dwight would be by far the best, otherwise Marc Gasol or Bogut.

You need to note which assets you're giving up into consideration, otherwise the answer is Dwight Howard. Here's just some names that have been considered by some to be available: Bogut, Nene, Okafor, Gortat, & Hibbert.

Henderson + Biyombo for Williams

Why for both teams: Screw that. It's 12 AM in Iowa, and I'm going to sleep.

I'm thinking maybe we should do this. Williams isn't looking like a 3 at all.

If Barea health let it, Chandler x Ridnour would be a good idea. Then Pekovic x a beers pack.

A solid post scorer who can also pass and play defense. Like Marc Gasol. Getting Dwight would be awesome, of course.

I would also say McGee.

Gasol, Howard... those are just unreacheavle, at least without giving up Love (and probably not even with Love. Gasol is a key piece for the grizzlies...)

McGee looks promising and wizards have suggested that they would be happy to trade him. We might be able to get him without giving back too much (although I can´t imagine what they would like in return from us).

I've heard McGee is as dumb as a rock, and Adelman hates guys like that.

This is a a great question, and it might be best to define some of the qualities that would improve the team:

1. Very good defender
2. Has some low-post game
3. Won't cost all our trade assets - not viewed as "2nd best center in the game" like many
4. Fits for salary now and longterm
5. Not too old - fits with team
6. Wants to be here, and/or can't leverage his way out right away
7. Not a big risk for injury, now or in the future.
8. Brains and Leadership

Anything else?

While Dwight Howard is the exception to every rule, no center is going to get an A+ in everything but I think this may be one way to target the centers that would have the most value to the team.
