Per Michael Wallace of ESPN, Eddy "continued to put in work after the game. He spent about 20 minutes on the treadmill and in a conditioning session....he wanted to put his body through a more rigorous routine beyond the 6 minutes he got on the court."

I really don't care about his past baggage. All I know is that ever since he got in contact with Riley/the organization he's lost a ton of weight, said all the right things, and looks to be heading down the right path. I'm definitely pulling for him.

he's already a decent offensive weapon, but if he can keep losing weight he could really crush guys and be more mobile on D.

I severely doubt that for three reasons:

1) Spoelstra has a mancrush on Joel and won't want to break up the chemistry and continuity that he believes he has created.

2) Curry will be much better in brief spurts with the second unit where the focus of the offense is on him and we can feed him in the post.

3) Losing weight does not mean he will magically be able to play/understand defense

I would like to see him get some time with the big three, however.

i saw thomas eating a sandwich on campus last asemester and i felt like just walking up to him and saying 'thanks for screwing the knicks"

hes actually shorter than i wouldve imagined. needless to say i was starstruck. that guy no matter what you say about his GM skills or coaching, was a heck of a player.

By what I've been reading from Knicks/Bulls fans that actually want him to do well, he was an atrocious defender. I apologize to the Curry family for making this comparison/insult, but I get the feeling he could be Carlos Loozer bad on defense.

I don't know how much those Knicks or Bulls teams preached defense back in the day, so that could be part of why he was never that good. On the other hand, some guys will never be even average defenders though they are on a defensive minded team (Like Loozer).

As a life long Bulls fan/Chicagoan, I really want to see Eddy succeed. Unfortunately, after reading todays WT, it seems like Eddy is not getting the defensive end (again). I've never seen a big man get back-doored more than Eddy. His court awareness on defense can be just atrocious at times. If he could get right on defense, he could be a truly solid NBA old-school type center. I'd really like to see that happen - even in Miami.

MIAMI — With Chris Bosh missing the game, Udonis Haslem missing shots, Dexter Pittman scuffling, Juwan Howard laboring and LeBron James reaching - to cover the much taller Pau Gasol - there was Eddy Curry.

And, um, sitting.

Which raises the question:

If not then, when?

If the Heat won't call on the 7-footer against a team like the Lakers, while being overmatched by Los Angeles' towering and talented front line, when exactly will the 29-year-old get a chance?

There's no point asking Erik Spoelstra anymore. The coach's answer the past two months has remained consistent. To paraphrase: Curry's working hard. He's transformed his body. We view this as a long-term investment and project. We never intended for his impact to be immediate, not after three years of virtual NBA inactivity.

I watched most of Eddy's games with the Bulls and many with the Knicks. In shape, Eddy was an offensive force but he was always a below average rebounder ( at best) and worse than Boozer on defense. Skiles and his staff worked hard trying to get him to understand how to play defense. The bets they ever were able to do was to get Eddy to realize where he should be on defense. We were happy to see him move to where he should be, albeit way too late because that was progress. Unfortunately, his BB IQ is way too low to ever "get it" on defense.

If Eddy can become an offensive force for 20 minutes a game then he will have fully reached his potential. Don't ever expect him to be a rebounder or defender so the Heat need to maximize his value on the court by going to him on offense frequently. Personally I'd like to see Eddy play well , he certainly needs the money, but I doubt whether there is much more than a 20% probability that he can help the Heat.

If Curry can't get any meaningful burn during the regular season, he won't get any burn in the playoffs. I have no more patience for any of this. I just want wins and a Trophy..period, end of story.
