Better days are coming, but Turgeons top recruiter Dalonte Hill got a DUI. He is suspended for at least two games.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/terp ... 4022.story

Dalonte Hill's arrest comes at a busy time for Turgeon, Terps
According to police report, Hill's eyes were "red and watery" and his speech was "slurred" when he was pulled over Thursday

Worse, this guy has done this before. :-?

Hill came to Maryland with Turgeon amid much fanfare. Though he isn't making as much money as he did at K-State -- $300,000 according to the contract The Sun's Jeff Barker obtained last summer -- Hill is beileved to be making nearly as much if not more than Williams' entire staff was earning when he retired. That translates into pressure to produce, and so far Maryland's recruits for next season are tied to Turgeon, assistant coach Scott Spinelli and Bino Ranson, the only assistant retained from Williams' staff.

Turgeon has been a no-nonsense guy with his players and I expect that to carry over with his staff as well.

He has also showed a compassionate side too. I'm sure he will let the legal process play out and make sure that Hill gets whatever help he needs. Hill went through an alcohol education program after his arrest at Kansas State. It might be interesting to note that Hill was suspended for one-game by Wildcats coach Frank Martin for his arrest there.

He really should be suspended until he presents an accountability/care plan that lists all his driver's and limo services, and accountability contacts. I think 7 games suspended is more appropriate than one. He should be terminated if anything like this happens in the next three years.

Yup, Dalonte Hill was the kind of hire Gary Williams would have NEVER made. The guy's got a sketchy past, and he's here because he can recruit and has deep ties with AAU coaches. He plays the recruiting game. Eventually you regret the day you hired guys like him.

Sorry for posting this in another thread, but I feel it belongs here, too.

UMCP from 2001, I'm watching on ESPN Classic. Check out this roster. This is the first Final Four team, but not the one that won it all.

Starters
PG Steve Blatke
SG Juan Dixon
SF Byron Mouton
PF Terrence Morris
C Lonny Baxter

Four guys who played in the NBA. One is still in the NBA and three more are still playing abroad.

Reserves
PG/SG Drew Nicholas
SF Danny Miller
PF Chris Wilcox
PF Taj Holden
C Mike Mardesich

Nicholas is a star in Europe. Wilcox is still in the NBA and IMO better than Blatche. Miller underachieved but had a lot of talent. Holden had enough talent to play for this current Wizard team. Mardesich was tall and looked like a player.

I mean just look at the size and skill of this team and see where the program is right now. :(

I hope they don't get killed by Duke. I like the job Turgeon is doing, but I agree with FAH1223. The Terps need some ballers.

The Terps fought well in the first half and early in the second half. Then, they collapsed thanks to some all-around poor play and the refs giving Duke all the calls (nothing new there). Len clearly needs more experience, confidence and muscle to handle ACC play. Pankey should've gotten more minutes in the second half, and I think that poke in the eye had something to do with it. Here's hoping they can turn it around against V. Tech Saturday.

Didn't see most of the 1st half, but watched the 2nd. UMD really did a poor job rotating and fighting for rebounds. And when are we gonna get some FT shooters? It seems like in every MD game I watch, they miss at least half of their FT attempts.

Maryland thoroughly outplaying Carolina. Horrible refs only reason it isn't 10 point game.

What a prick move by Henson at the end.

UNC is overrated. They were lucky to pull out with the win today, since they need the refs in a big way to do it.

I'm glad I missed this game. Good to hear the Terps played tough!

Their time will come under Coach Turgeon.

It was a case of being physically exhausted. They got ahead by scrapping - they got basically every loose ball in the first half. But UNC has amazing depth and was able to stay fresh all game. MD's bench did well, but by midway through the 2nd half, you could see it was just a matter of time. Stoglin practically had his tongue hanging out - he was so tired. Plus, MD got in all kinds of foul trouble - the officials called it awfully close for the most part. The one player that really stuck out as being a negative is Faust. His decision-making and poor shooting is just too much of a detriment to keep him in the lineup, imo. All in all, it was a great learning experience for Len and most of the rest of the team.

Please choose Maryland Stefon Diggs.

As unusual as is this is I think Diggs is going to be a Terp. Mike Locklsey has zeroed in on him which means he's going to explain exactly why Maryland is the best place for him to be. It really is the best place for him to be.

Maryland is getting totally raped by ACC officiating. This Clemson game they've really made things interesting.

Clemson has been hacking, grabbing, bumping and no contact. At the other end the refs are anticipating calls and blowing the whistle on Maryland. They haven't let Alex Len jog down court without calling a foul.

A win is a win, but that ending was almost a classic meltdown by the Terps. They had turnovers, missed FTs, and one really bad decision by Mosely at the end.

Better days are ahead. At least can say that they are learning and gaining experience every game, staying relatively competitive and even pulling out a game or two.
Just let the young boys play! It's truly the only hope at this point.

The key was - it was a road game. I'm always happy with an ACC road win - no matter how ugly.

Stoglin had 27 points in 11 shots!

If Stoglin stays in school(which he should), Maryland could be a real threat next year. Len will have a year under his belt and I believe they have a strong recruiting class coming in.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.
