I love P90X but it's not for everyone. The best workout routine is one that you stick with, whether it's home based like this one or a gym or whatever. I did 2 or 3 rounds of P90X, then I start mixing in P90X+ and some of Tony's One on One workouts to keep things fresh. It's a good variety. Now there is P90X2 which has some differences and some similarities.

Getting in shape and staying in shape are different.

What's nice about P90X and similar programs are it's very structured. You know exactly what to do and for how long and when to change workouts.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I wrecked the ligaments in my thumb about 4 months ago and have done nothing since. :(

My ipod breaking and my desire to avoid all of the New Years resolution people have led me to take a month off.

Yeah sparring. I took it up too late I guess. I really should start working out again anyway or I'll become Boris Diaw.

Question for you: What do you use for bag gloves?

Mine hurt my wrist (could be poor technique), but my knuckles as well which I was under the impressing those should be protected pretty well if wrapped correctly. Took em back, in the market for more.

So would you suggest the P90X2 to a new person?

I'm pretty self motivated, but I think I might respond well to this routine.

I'd suggest the original P90X first. Then P90X+. Then maybe 2. But much of 2 is in the others.

Both problems could be from your wraps although with wrists you've probably got technique issues too IMO. I haven't had problems with a wide variety of gloves and the last lot I got were just the cheapest gloves in store. Having said that though I used the same gloves for sparing and bag work. It was easier with a lot of stuff we did and I liked the familiarity when I got in the ring of having the same gloves. So maybe a pair of sparring gloves would help?

See I always thought using the same gloves was a no no because the padding breaks down while heavy bag working and the sparring opponent may not enjoy sparring with you too much under those conditions...

But anyway I got some light mma style heavy bag gloves. Not a ton of wrist support at all. I know the wraps weren't an issue I'm pretty good at that part of it. And I was sticking with the straight jabs and crosses, no hooks or anything so I mean maybe it did come down to technique but it would surprise me because I was keeping it simple and technical and not just whaling away or anything.

I am def thinking about getting some of the bigger gloves though just for cardio purposes as well as the boxing gloves tend to go further down your arm which lends more wrist support. Its either that or the "bag gloves" sold at the local sports stores, but I don't really like the idea of the thumb being loose. Either way, loving this for cardio purposes.

Yeah I've been through a few pairs that way but everyone at the gym was working bags then getting straight into the ring so I wasn't going to question it. Definitely go with some bigger gloves IMO certainly something more substantial than MMA ones.

Well they were that style but they were supposed to be bag gloves with the extra padding and all. Much less than like a 16 oz boxing glove but honestly seemed like more than the other traditional "bag gloves" they had.

12 oz boxing gloves are super light compared to the 16s and still plenty padded.

Yea I know maybe I just need to expand my search but at the 3-4 sports stores I've searched around here I've never found a pair of 12 oz gloves that fit my hands.

That is odd.

I'm not a big p90x fan but I agree with MD that the best program for you is the one you do conistently. p90x2 sounds pretty cool in that they include stability and balance which is great for injury prevention and prepping the body for a larger workload.

Anyone here taken DHEA? I didn't realize it was a banned substance for the NCAA or that you need to be 18 to buy it. I used to use creatine with positive effects.

Anyone use any sort of run tracking/GPS watch/sports band? I've been looking into Nike+ but the watch is so effing expensive, the sports band requires you to use a Nike+ shoe, and the new iPod Nano is missing some major features. I'd also prefer not to use my massive Android phone, but I have not counted it out yet...
