The players added Thursday join the six players elected to the game by fan balloting: Forwards Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek and defenseman Erik Karlsson of the host Senators, Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas and defenseman Dion Phaneuf of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Forwards selected by the league were Anaheim's Corey Perry; Boston youngster Tyler Seguin; Buffalo's Jason Pominville; Calgary captain Jarome Iginla, who recently became the 42nd player in NHL history with 500 goals; Chicago's Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa; Jamie Benn of Dallas; Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk; Minnesota's Mikko Koivu; John Tavares of the New York Islanders; the Rangers' Marian Gaborik; Claude Giroux of Philadelphia; Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin, Logan Couture of San Jose; Tampa Bay sniper Steven Stamkos; Toronto's Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul; Henrik and Daniel Sedin of Vancouver; and Washington's Alex Ovechkin.

The additional defensemen picked were Boston's Zdeno Chara; Florida's Brian Campbell; Ryan Suter and Shea Weber of Nashville; the Rangers' Dan Girardi; Kimmo Timonen of Philadelphia; Keith Yandle of Phoenix; Vancouver's Alex Edler; the Capitals' Dennis Wideman; and Dustin Byfuglien of Winnipeg.

Goaltenders heading to the event will be Detroit's Jimmy Howard, Los Angeles' Jonathan Quick; Montreal's Carey Price; the Rangers' Henrik Lundqvist and Brian Elliott of St. Louis.

So question is who do you pick first overall?

I thought Eberle was snubbed, but Craig Custance is reporting that the Oilers were informed both he and RNH would have been chosen had they been healthy.

I love Price, but Josh Gorges should be the guy representing Montreal.

Montreal doesnt really have anyone All-Star worthy, that is why I would have thrown Rafael Diaz in the rookie portion as their representative.

Benn and Koivu out, who replaces them? Patrice Bergeron deserves to be there. Radim Vrbata and his 22 goals maybe? Thomas Vanek? James Neal? Maybe Loui Eriksson replaces his teammate?

I'd go with Vanek for sure, quite surprised he's not there.

Datsyuk with the first pick.

Ottawa versus the All-Star team. Lol, the crowd.

I'm loving the crowd. Not suprised at how the picks are going but i'm a little shocked Stamkos is still available.

That was awesome.

I was kinda suprised Couture went last actually. I was expecting either Benn or Pominville to go last.

I loved having the place packed with fans out front and the players behind the stage, vs last year's set up. The most important thing about this is that the players seem to genuinely enjoy this new wrinkle. You could really tell Alfredsson knew that Chara wouldnt pick any Canucks so had no problems letting them slide.

That was a fun all star saturday night.

The sedins were kinda unreal at that passing game, and I like that Jaime Benn guy for the stars. Good accuracy in two different events.

They need to cut out that Breakaway Competition; its a homeless man's version of the NBA Dunk Contest, except no one protects the rim in the dunk contest. The goalies look ridiculous in that competition, and the moves are stupid and pointless. The Breakaway Elimination at the end is good enough.
