Brook Lopez return date

Post#1 » by terry » Wed Jan 25, 2012 4:29 am

Quick question: When is Brook Lopez estimated to return? I read he had the boot removed recently... but was wondering if there is any info on when he will be back?

Looks like they are circling February 10th vs. Pistons as the EARLIEST return date.

My guess is March 2nd @Boston, the first game after the All-Star Break.

Brook Lopez return date

Post#4 » by N Ireland Nets » Wed Jan 25, 2012 11:14 am

He's already walking on it and is going to begin power walking on a treadmill for conditioning.

Feb 10th will be 7weeks from the injury and the exact amount of time it took Robin Lopez for the same injury.

I think he will begin playing again limited mins from the 10th Feb. I wonder if he'll start building up with Springfield. It would be foolish not to as Lopez would be running the same plays as the Nets with them and ease himself back into playing shape.

Can't wait for the big guy going HAM on people. I thought in the two pre season games Lopez was noticeably more aggressive on the boards, attacking the rim and defending. Just hope he brings the noise because he will completely change this team.

Lopez looked amazing in the pre-season and I've heard he's been able to improve this strength throughout this whole recovery process. Hope he is back to the Brook from 2 years ago and goes H.A.M. as well.

I'd want him to take it easy coming back, probably come off the bench. You don't want him over-exerting himself and re-injuring himself. He's been out for a while, he has to work his way back. I'd also avoid playing him much more than 30 mpg.

The good news is that Pau Gasol and Robin Lopez both had this same injury, and they both recovered 100%.

ummm pretty sure they both had stress fractures in their feet... correct me if im wrong though

both yao and bill walton had their careers cut short because of this injury and 7 footers seem to have issues with it

There's different kinds of stress fractures. I'm pretty sure the kind that Yao had and the one that Lopez has are different.

Lopez has the same stress fracture that Pau Gasol and his brother Robin had, and they both came back perfectly fine.

Yao's injury was on a weight bearing bone in his foot, it's a totally different injury.

It would be like you saying Brandon Roy and Caron Butler had the same injury because both had knee injuries.

Idk if I believe Bondy but if it's true that Lopez is upset that he's going to become a RFA and (to quote Bondy) "doesn't need the market to determine his value", trade his behind as soon as he proves he's healthy.

For someone who didn't even know there was a deadline for receiving an extension, which actually speaks infinitely more about his agent than it does the Nets FO, he needs to understand and understand FAST, that we have the opportunity to pair him with Dwight in the frontcourt and as well as have D-Will & MarShon in the backcourt.

Dude needs to get with it quick because if he's not happy with the situation and the awesome opportunity that he has, I'd quickly accommodate a trade for another stretch 4 or a good 3.

You don't have to believe Bondy, Ian was talking about the comments live on air last night, using all the same quotes.

Who knows, but I don't think Brook is naive, he's just a secret sarcastic smart ass.

All those times when he's like, "Oh, I didn't even know blah, blah, blah this and that...", that's he's made this season, it's pretty easy to read that he's being a sarcastic dick.

I don't think this is nearly the issue it could become, but I hope our FO treads lightly.

Brook has proven to be a touch moody and sensitive in the past, no need to piss him off and if this stuff is true, that no one even called him, it's pretty shoemaker on Billy and Bobby's part, they should have at least called him to discuss the situation even if it was common sense and obvious the plan, even if his agent went over it with him.

It is kind of disrespectful.

Not calling him, if true, is a total failure on the front office's part and calls into question their ability. I'm sorry but would a simple call to Brook, telling him to come in to talk about the plan be that burdensome? Even if he didn't like hearing it, he could still point to the front office and say, "You know, they did me right." Now, the front office doesn't even have that.

Yeah, was saying pretty much the same thing on ND last night.

It's Bush League. Unprofessional even. :-?

It's worse than Bush League. At least Bush League teams tell you they suck and don't want you back. Trust me...

I'd want to hear from his agent though.

If he didn't even have a clue as to what was going on about the extension deadline, even though other agents and their players clearly knew about the deadline, then I wonder if there were any discussions between him and the FO.

Out of all of the pretty good players that had the opportunity to get an extension, Brook seemed like the only player who had no idea what the heck was going on.

Regardless, why is Billy not calling this guy personally?
Doesn't he talk to him in general a decent amount anyway?

I think we've all been guilty of not appreciating Brook as fans, but this is the motherflippin' front office of basketball operations for a professional team in the National Basketball Association, are you kidding me??

Eh, hopefully this blows over, but I could understand him being heated.

I understand that too. At the same time, we would usually hear something about the agent not being happy about the blatant level of disrespect. The entire situation seems really weird.

It could also be blown out of proportion as well. By just reading the comments alone it didn't seem like he was royally pissed, just a little upset. If he wasn't concerned before, I really doubt that he'll get increasingly upset.

The only thing he could possibly do is come back and play angry to earn a better contract. Hopefully, he doesn't break something again in the process.
