Sorry guys to borrow this thread didn't want to make a new one on your board relating to Hayward.
Here goes my question, what is your opinion on Hayward for a DeRozan swap? A couple Raptor posters think that Hayward is a better player and want a DeRozan for Hayward swap asap. I feel like DeRozan is a better prospect/player for Toronto to have. I haven't seen much of Hayward cause of the time zone difference's but he looks like a good shooter and ok defender but gives you some solid rebounding from both the offensive and defensive side from the little bit of film I seen.
My problem is if Toronto and Utah were talking about a swap there would have to be more to it i.e. you taking Calderon or a bad deal and I can't see you doing that.
Thanks in advance and again sorry to mini highjack this thread

Re: Alec Burks vs Gordan Hayward
I don't think the Jazz would be willing to take on any salary right now if we weren't for sure getting better.
Maybe the Jazz would consider a Calderon/DeRozan for Hayward/Harris deal, Calderon fits more what the Jazz are trying to do as a passer and shooter, and DeRozan is more proven than Hayward.
Who knows.
I don't think the Jazz are looking to disrupt the chemistry of the team right now though.

Nah I would pass Calderon is a serviceable player right now who is putting up 11.5 ppg, 8.7 apg and 3.6 rpg and shooting good numbers plus has a 1.73 turnover per game ratio as well. Harris is a better defender but that's all he is at this point and time to me. If Toronto wanted to save money we could amnesty Calderon and pay him the $10 million next year and whatever is left on this years contract to go away and have $30+ million in space to sign a Nash/Hinrich/Felton/DJ Augustin etc I believe that The Raps brass would ask for a 2013 pick for Hayward for DeRozan swap. I think Hayward is a solid player but I think DeRozan has more potential to be a solid scorer in this league and is worth more to us

I'm gonna say burks winds up being better. I think his mentality is better suited to reaching his ceiling than hayward's.

Players obviously aren't one dimensional. Hayward's floor game is far superior to Burks. And it will stay that way throughout their careers.
Hayward's scoring will improve. He's struggling right now, but he's still the best shooter in practice, so he will come out of the slump. However, he doesn't have a scorer's mentality which Burks has. What that means is Burks is going to be a high volume shooter who will average somewhere in the teens within two years. His up side might be the high teens, with a significant number of free throws. Burks has no remorse regarding the number of shots he takes and the ones he misses. It's all about the numbers for him.
Hayward's upside is he will average in the low teens in scoring but he'll get a lot of rebounds, steals, blocks and assists. In other words he'll have a more all around game than Burks. Hayward is a core player. He's the kind of player you build a team around. No matter who's the volume scorers are, or what position they play, Hayward will make them better.
I guess fans always like the guys with the big scoring numbers the best, but they aren't always the best players.
