I personally like to look over the trade board and was thinking up the players that we might be able to get for John Salmons. Mind you, these are not players that I would trade Salmons for, just a list of people we MIGHT be able to get. Guys with bad contracts mainly. The ability to amnesty Salmons does complicate things.
I hope Salmons gets better...but I am not giving my hopes up.
Would you consider trading him for any of these guys? Do you think their team would consider it?
Joe Johnson (depending on how desperate ATL is to get rid of him)
Tyus Thomas (bigger, longer contract, but a better player)
Brendan Haywood
Al Harrington
Charlie Villanueva
Ben Gordon
Andris Biedrins
David Lee (owed SOOOOO much money, but way better than Salmons. Doubt GS does it without sweetener.)
Metta World Peace
Mike Miller and Joel Anthony together (both on bad contracts that add up to a little more than Salmons)
Drew Gooden
Emeka Okafor
Trevor Ariza
Hedo
Josh Childress
Richard Jefferson
Rashard Lewis (doubt they do this with the amnesty provision avaliable)

I think the only offers I would consider are Biedrins, Oak and possibly Hedo. The rest probably arent getting dealt such as Johnson, Ty Thomas or Lee or are worse such as Jefferson, Childress and Miami combo. We should try and entice NOH to deal Kaman for him. I know not going to happen but that's what they should pursue.

The only scenerios I see Salmons being dealt are :
1. He is included into a much bigger deal with young talent like Evans , J.T, or J.J. for a bigtime player like D12 or some other big star ( dont really know who else ? )
2 . If the CAVS thought they have a chance to make a playoff run we could go after expirings of A.Jamison thus adding more with Salmons in the deal or absorbing the rest of the salary financially this season for compensation that they have to pay Salmons the remainder of his contract . Also Sessions who has a playeer option next season or Gibson who has a team option after this season .
3. If the 76ers wanted to send us back Nociani expiring for Salmons ( scorer ) for their playoff run .
Lastly 4 . Outside chance to the clippers for more depth at the SF position & trading us M.Williams salaries match evenly .
I do not like most of the other possibilities listed above . Aside from these I do not see many other options other than 3 way trades .

Noboby is going to trade for John Salmons unless the Kings give up something dumb to move him. Nobody is going to move a shorter deal for him. Noboby is going to move talent for him. Nobody is going to take him on for depth purposes. Petrie had to know that going in when he traded for him. The goal was hopefully that he could play some D and hit a few open jumpers, neither has happened, hardly even in spurts. Just have to hope he turns around, or at the very least appears as if he still breathes, and if he doesn't, give him an express ticket out of town where he can go be that "depth" for a contender.

John Salmons is our Kenny Thomas 2.0, guys. No one is taking him without getting something big back. The only benefit is this time, we have the amnesty clause, but again... we do have the Maloofs as owners.
