Bobcats inquired about Kaman per Bonnell

Post#1 » by hotrod » Mon Jan 30, 2012 7:00 pm

He would be a nice fit beside Biz. Don't want to pay much for him though. Diop and TT? Probably does not work but it would free up minutes for Biz.

George Shinn is no longer the owner. No way get rid of Tyrus's contract and get a lottery pick at the same time. If Cho can make that happen go ahead and annoint him the new king of the GM' s.

Isn't DJ from NO? I've heard rumors they are interested.

Has he ever actually played a full season? I don't know if he still has anything left in the tank.

With Jarrett Jack playing the quality basketball that he's playing I doubt they are interested enough to give up one of their lottos for him.

from the reports last week it sounded like stern and co. had a ridiculous asking price for kaman, something like an unprotected 1st + a young player.

Tyrus Thomas straight up. Lets them grab a young player and we dump that contract. Doubt Stern would approve such a trade though.

If they want DJ and want to get rid of Jack at the same time, do Diaw + DJ + Tyrus for Kaman and Jack. Kaman may not be a long-term solution but Jack gives us size at the point.

Orlando might send their unprotected 1st and Daniel Orton for Kaman if Howard is dealt. Beyond that, I don't see Stern getting that if that is what he wanted.

It was probably a just casual inquiry. Cho probably was looking to hose someone, and thought of New Orleans.

Jarrett Jack is only signed through next season, I'm guessing they'd sign DJA to a long term extension if they traded for him.

LOL.

there's is no need for Kaman, especially for this price. We have Mullens and most likely get a new center in June.

some sort of deal around DJ and Diaw for Jack and Kaman would be ideal. JAck would be a nice mentor for kemba and Kaman would fit nicely next to our other BIGS, and whop knows them staying here for half a season may interest them on resigning

Totally agree. I'd bet it's just due diligence by our front office.

That said, if they were good with a two part trade (because Kaman can't be combined with other players) that went something like:

Kaman and the T'Wolves 2012 1st round pick
for
Boris and DJA

then

Jack
for
Tryus

then obviously we would do it in a nano second - which obviously then means it favors us way too greatly!!

Stern is going to be involved with any Hornets trade. I just don't see it happening.

Maybe at the trade deadline otherwise their asking price will remain high.

Well, I noticed kaman trade scenaros on trade board and immediately thought there is no plausible way to get us involved (exceptz in multi teams trades). Hornets won't take absorb any money exceeding kaman's cotnract and he is an expiring. They want to gain something from him otherwise they could just let him expire. He is just a hired gun for desperate contending team (like Celtics and team without a good starting center) and he is also a gamble whether he would be able to help significantly at all. He has no value for us as a player as he is going to UFA. Firts idea would be getting rid of Thomas and Diop (works) which is absurd, so Thomas + Diaw (works) with a premise they would like Boris to help their young pices involved properly, but would be vetoed by owners/Stern/league/whoever and won't happen. league wants Hornets to be attractive for bidders so they won't get rid of young talent, should not get rid of picks although picks were free for grabs and some cash in this league recently and we don't have anyone who would be an upgrade in talent for them, works salary wise and we would be willing to trade away. Closest to that is probably Maggette (+fillers) as he is just one more year and worst case for them they would be offering him same way next year; and they still need to add some salary to meet the new rules next year. Our motivation to do that is limited (fans would like as getting rid of Corey's contract but front office should try to keep their bluff face up not admitting that maggette as serious first option was only part of the story) as it only adds one more person to our mob under the basket. If they are crazy enough to send some picks then why not but don't expect to rob Hornets as we would have to rob 28 teams as well and someone will notice...

He is expiring, it's things like this that have set us back for years. The only way I would even consider is if we could get rid of T2's horrible contract.

I love Kaman and would have tripped over myself to acquire him a several years ago. But he's 30 now and his value as an expiring almost matches his value as a player. Would gladly part with DJ for him as some have suggested but would insist on unloading Tyrus also. Thats probably a deal breaker for NO
