Just curious what it'd take to get Rubio to the Jazz?

It would make Kahn and the franchise look like a complete joke if we were to trade Rubio after everything we've been through. All the feel good stories would be replaced with stories of sadness and sorrow.

Rubio is one of the main reasons this team is relevant. The guy is in his rookie season, and already is 3rd in voting for all Western guards. He's already a fan favorite and a highlight waiting to happen.

I do feel a little sense of loyalty towards Rubio in the same way the Suns won't trade Nash to just anyone. I don't mean that in a negative way especially since Minnesota isn't a top destination for free agent, but I'd hope if a trade were to occur that both sides would leave on good terms. Unless of course someone is willing to blatantly overpay, than I'll throw my feelings of loyalty out the window.

I think all he lacks is some consistency.

And honestly, he's one of our most consistent guys anyway. His shooting can be a tad hit or miss, but as far as just bringing it every night and giving us positive minutes, he's probably the 2nd most consistent guy next to Love IMO.

And in addition to just rejuvenating the franchise (and Kevin Love especially), he's already an all-around players. He's almost hit triple doubles in multiple games, he plays excellent defense for being a rookie IMO, and he's making other guys on this team better. He's worked out better than most could have imagined so far.

There's not a lot of teams that could offer up enough to have them deal Rubio. We're not in "win now" mode, so offering up vets isn't gonna cut it, it'd have to be a young superstar type situation. There are plenty of players who are better RIGHT NOW, but it's hard not to wanna project Rubio as one of those guys who will be an elite player for many, many years to come. Why would you wanna deal that away?

However, I only trade Derrick Rose and Westrbrook for Rubio (And I actually wouldn't, because I know they would want out of Minnesota). Kid's got a great future and sells tickets. In 3 years time he will be one of the top 5 PGs in the league.

Not that a Rubio-Rose or Rubio-Westbrook swap is even on the horizon, but I wouldn't completely write off either of those playersstaying in Minnesota now that Love has signed his extension. Love and those guys are good buddies and there was a lot of talk in NBA circles about these 3 wanting to be the next trio to pull a Bron-Wade-Bosh. With that said, this is all a fantasy scenario anyway and doesn't warrant much further discussion, I mean Love, Rose, and Westbrook teaming up in....Minnesota?! haha

Since Ricky Rubio entered the starting lineup, the Timberwolves are 7-4 compared to just 3-7 with Rubio coming off the bench. Much of the Timberwolves' success lately is due to Rubio's superb play down the stretch of games.

Rubio was nearly flawless in the second half of the win over the Rockets on Monday, totaling seven assists and just one turnover while shooting 4-of-6 from the field. For the game, Rubio had 18 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds and three turnovers while shooting 6-of-10 from the field and 2-of-3 from 3-point range. It was perhaps Rubio's most complete game of the season.

In the second half of the last three games, Rubio has 18 assists and just one turnover. In those three games, the Timberwolves are +26 in the second half, including +14 in the second half of Monday's win.

In fact, it's the fourth time that Rubio has totaled at least seven rebounds and eight assists in a game, and the Timberwolves are now 4-0 in those games. Rubio has 10 double-digit assist games this season, which leads the NBA.

But the fourth quarter has been where Rubio has been at his best.

Rubio leads the NBA in fourth-quarter assists with 46. By comparison, the next-highest is Derrick Rose with 36. Over his last three games, Rubio has seven assists and zero turnovers in the fourth quarter. The Timberwolves are 2-1 in those games with a five-point loss to the Lakers sandwiched in between two wins.

During a three-game winning streak from January 16-20, Rubio had seven assists and two turnovers while the Timberwolves were a combined +33 in those fourth quarters. Rubio had 12 assists and five turnovers while his team was +45 in the second halves of those games.

Rubio is +38 in the fourth quarter this season, which ranks third in the NBA among point guards behind Derrick Rose and Jrue Holiday.

Rubio's shooting has drastically improved in the fourth quarter as compared to the first three quarters. He's shooting 42.0 percent from the field and 46.7 percent on 3-point attempts in the fourth quarter, but is shooting just 36.3 percent from the field and 30.3 percent on 3-point attempts in the first three quarters.

With Rubio's improved play since entering the starting lineup, especially late in games, the Timberwolves have exploded offensively. They've scored more than 100 points in four of their last seven games and are averaging 100.6 points in those seven games after scoring more than 100 only once in their previous nine games.
