The coaching shakeup hurt us with a few high level recruits (Dodson flipping to OSU). Overall not a terrible class. We didn't have many scholarships available this year. We did just pick up Meador a 3* OT today so that helps soften to the Dodson blow a little.

Apparently there's a rumor flying around at Diamond at Madison. Haven't heard anything other than that and am dubiious, but that would be a huge get.

Apparently if Korzan switches from Iowa which is apparently looking possible right now, then Diamond could be a Badger.

Here's hoping.

From the same post on a pretty reliable guy on a message board. Bielema never met with Demetrius Cox and that's why he's not a Badger right now.

If that's true I'll be royally pissed.

Bielema takes a shot at Urban Meyer.

Coach Bret Bielema said he hopes Big Ten recruiting doesn’t change with the addition of Ohio State coach Urban Meyer. “I think the potential for change is there,” Bielema said. “There are a few things that happened early on that I made people aware of that I didn’t want to see in this league, that I had seen take place in other leagues -- other recruiting tactics [and] other recruiting practices that are illegal.”

Yeah I saw that interview last night. Or press conference or whatever it was. I can't stand OSU or Meyer.

Not surprising, only two B1G teams had consensus top 20 recruiting classes. And as everyone knows, these are pretty pointless, as Wisconsin proves year in and year out. Even teams like MSU and Iowa seem to produce top 25 level teams with much lower recruiting classes.

They are pointless, however...I am not sure Wisconsin proves them pointless. Wisconsin historically has had lower recruiting rankings than Michigan and Ohio State and most years finished below them in the Big Ten standings. Michigan's transition to the new system (Rodriguez) and back to Hoke hurt recruiting for a couple years. Michigan and Ohio State have owned the recruiting rankings and Big Ten. Ohio State more recently with their dominance.

Pretty much, after killing the team in the Rose Bowl, losing the good assistant coaches, and then pulling in a disappointing class, he shouldn't be talking **** about Urban Meyer.

I don't think this recruiting class is bad, especially given the small size of it.

In the end though, it's up to Bret and his staff to keep doing what he and Alvarez have done many times over the years and that's to get the kids to outperform the class rankings. Barry never had top 10 recruiting classes and no coach at Wisconsin is going to either. Anyone expecting Bielema or whoever ends up replacing him to pull in recruiting classes with the top programs is just not being realistic.

I agree though that unless Meyer actually did something illegal, Bret should keep quiet to the media because his complaining just comes off like sour grapes. Either state what exactly you had an issue with or keep it to yourself.

Is this guy any good? Should Badger fans want this guy as the starter next year?

Heard this morning Wisconsin is involved for O'Brien. He would be a good get.

But also heard there are 1-2 higher profile schools involved, as well as other Big Ten schools.

Heard O'Brien was likely going to Vandy.

They said O'Brien and the other unhappy md guy are free to go there, but they may be filing tampering charges against Franklin at Vandy.

Seemed to say Vandy is less of an option now for some reason, perhaps for appearance sake. Said high profile schools to include Wisconsin were going after O'Brien hard under the radar, so they don't piss off the guys they do have if they dont get em.

Could be wrong, but this is a dc radio guy I know who asked a Washington Post guy I also know. Named a couple schools off the record, and I trust the info.

Read on a Badger board that Vandy was on a list of schools Maryland wouldn't allow O'Brien to transfer to.
